In the United States, a country with a founding document that is areligious, why should one religious group have more input and impact on the legal system than other religious groups? Why should people who hold different religious beliefs or no beliefs at all be required to legally adhere to the rules set forth in a religion to which they do not belong?

@Randall.Weaver Good questions. Have you considered this article? www.equip.org/articles/to-defend-marriage-draft/ But why would Muslims and Jews disagree with Christians on marriage being instituted by God in Genesis 2?
@Randall.Weaver
@Randall.Weaver 14 күн бұрын
@@BibleAnswerMan I read the article and it makes reasonable explanations for the support and benefit of one man and one woman being married. However, all of those benefits can still be achieved without legal, state-sponsored marriage. Muslims, Jews, and Christians may not disagree on the foundation established in Genesis 2, but certainly you acknowledge that there are more than three religious views expressed in the United States. My question was why should any one of those religions carry more weight in public policy than another religion. For example, why should followers of Religion X be able to apply their religious beliefs onto the lives of Religion Y and Religion Z followers?

@@Randall.WeaverWhat should we do in your opinion if a grown man wants to marry a three year old? What if he says it's according to his religion? There's certainly got to be limits don't you think? Who do you think should decide what those limits are? Not too long ago the thought of two men getting married was unheard of. The majority was against it and considered it unnatural and some other things. What do you think happened to change that? Did the majority change their views on it, or was it a minority of people in power? Is it enough to let two people of the same sex get married? Or should we also be forced to have to go against our religious beliefs and let them preach and teach in our churches, be forced to make gay wedding cakes, and other things that go against our beliefs? Are they really just fighting for their rights or are they also fighting against ours?

The "church" marriage ceremony, while associated with religious symbolism and tradition, solemnizes a government marriage contract rather than a Biblical marriage covenant, as defined by scriptural teachings. Biblical marriage was established through familial agreements, without a formalized ceremony as seen in modern "church" weddings. The Bible does not prescribe or even describe a specific marriage ceremony or ritual; instead, it emphasizes the covenantal and patriarchal nature of marital relationships before God. "Church "weddings serve to solemnize a government marriage license legal contract. While couples may exchange vows and participate in rituals that seem to reflect Biblical values, the legal aspect of marriage-recognized by the state-remains the government marriage statutes and marriage license. Government marriage, characterized by legal egalitarianism and a departure from Biblical patriarchal marriage also makes same sex marriage legal. Furthermore, the legalization of same-sex marriage within the framework of government marriage highlights divergences from Biblical marriage. While government law may permit and recognize same-sex unions, this marriage contradicts Biblical views that endorse heterosexual relationships only, within a patriarchal structure. As a result, government marriage with the help of the "church" has made Biblical patriarchal marriage illegal and same-sex marriages legal..

I think most Christians would agree with patriarchal Biblical marriage just as you explained it but in a world where laws govern behavior I don’t see where being married in a legal sense is necessarily contrary to scripture. It does not make less the bond of marriage and the importance of marriage institution in a Biblical sense.

@DuaneWiseChristianC The government marriage legally destroys Biblical patriarchy marriage. If the wife rebels against Jesus and her husband and files for divorce, the government may give her at least half of family assets, alimony as well as custody of the children and child support. The husband and his family become wards of the family court .

@@BibleAnswerManThe evolution of marriage from Biblical coverture to modern egalitarian marriage in the USA represents a significant shift in societal norms and gender roles. Here are some key facts about this transformation: 1. Biblical Coverture: In Biblical times and through much of history, marriage was often characterized by coverture, a legal doctrine where a woman's legal rights and obligations were subsumed under her husband upon marriage. This meant that wives had limited legal autonomy and were legally dependent on their husbands. 2. Shift to Egalitarian Marriage: Over time, particularly with the rise of movements for women's rights and gender equality, marriage norms began to shift towards egalitarianism. This shift gained momentum notably during the 20th century with waves of feminism and changes in legal frameworks. 3. Legal Reforms: Legal reforms played a crucial role in transforming marriage. Changes in divorce laws, property rights, and employment opportunities for women contributed to a more egalitarian understanding of marriage. For example, the introduction of no-fault divorce allowed couples to dissolve marriages without proving fault, giving more autonomy to individuals within marriage. 4. Cultural Changes: Alongside legal reforms, cultural shifts in attitudes towards gender roles and relationships reshaped marriage dynamics. The idea of marriage as a partnership of equals gained popularity, emphasizing mutual respect, shared responsibilities, and individual agency for both spouses. 5. Impact of Feminist Movements: The feminist movements of the 20th century challenged traditional gender roles and advocated for women's rights in marriage and society. These movements influenced public discourse and policies, contributing to broader acceptance of egalitarian values in marriage. 6. Modern Concepts of Marriage: Today, marriage in the USA is viewed as a partnership between equals, where spouses share decision-making, financial responsibilities, and domestic duties based on mutual consent and respect. Egalitarian marriages prioritize individual autonomy and recognize the importance of both partners' contributions and aspirations. The transition from Biblical coverture to modern egalitarian marriage reflects broader societal changes towards gender equality and individual autonomy within relationships.

Wow a great topic with piercing and relevant answers from Hank! I’ve never heard the institution of Biblical marriage defended any better than on this call. But the caller made a great point at the end and it’s something I’ve stood by my entire Christian life almost 50 years now and that is ultimately believing the Gospel of salvation through Jesus and Jesus alone is an individual matter between each and every person walking this earth. We will answer or not answer the call to repent and seek after righteousness for ourselves and not another. ✝️🙏

I agree that gay couples are doing damage to straight normal marriage. If a society redefines marriage then this opens a pandoras box now anyone can say a marriage between a person and a dog is legit or other aberrations This is ultimately harmful to the health of any nation and it won't be limited to just gay. It is up to the church - not the church with walls, roof, & steeple, but the church as Jesus Christ founded. What is next on the agenda is even worse. Whether this is the end times I do not know. I do know this type of culture has been existed before, and has been swatted down by God who always leaves a remnant to carry on in His Devine will.
