There is an intersection near my workplace. It's a 2 lane left turn, the right turns into a right turn only lane almost immediately, It's amazing how many will get in that lane, just to speed through the intersection to cut off the person in the continuous lane. I lost track of how many times it happened to me when I was the only one waiting in the continuous lane. It really can't be that difficult to have to wait behind another car in the lane that gets you there the safest.

@@TheChamp21 It could have had a green auxiliary light (arrow). In that case, the main light could've been red and the blue car would be in the wrong. But what I'm trying to say is that sometimes (where I live, at least) only the main light may be green, indicating to someone who wants to make a left turn that he can enter the intersection but has to wait until it's safe to proceed. Basically, if more than one party enters an intersection governed by traffic lights (so all of them have a green light), a party that maintains its course (goes straight) enjoys the primary right of way. A party that makes a right turn is second and a party that's making a left turn always comes last.

Considering the car that was behind blue stopped, I am guessing that the truck had a turn arrow and blue had a red light. But blue was clearly in the intersection before the truck started to turn, so the truck was a moron, even if he had the right if way. I see a lot of people with the right of way posting themselves plowing into someone because they aren’t paying attention and expecting everyone to be on their side. No! You may be right, but you are still stupid.

Most people have their mirrors adjusted to the rear of the vehicle and not the sides. I call them "complete idiots". Staying out of their blind spots is a good idea to not end up in the same category.

When everyone drives like this in a city it causes congestion. It sounds like a smart idea until you start seeing people leave 20-30 ft gaps and blocking left hand turn lanes. You really think you are going to be aware enough to avoid a collision in that scenario? If you are that concerned about being rear ended at a stop light, ride the bus.

@@siegessaule I agree with you that some people take that "leaving enough space idea" to far but it also doesn't help when cops will cite people who are rear ended if they end up going into the people in front of them as well (happened to a buddy of mine several yrs ago). In those instances, the only person who should be legally cited imo is the one who wasn't paying attention and started the chain reaction.

I still got rear ended at a red light one time by a car that had already stopped behind me. He kept inching forward in anticipation of the green light and inched a little too forward and I hear a crunch noise. It only cracked the plastic bumper cover on my pos 09 malibu thankfully.

How about turning on your emergency blinkers or tapping the brake lights to warn people behind you that traffic has gone from 65 mph to 0 mph!!!! That’s what I do.

If the blue had a solid green, the black vehicle would have been required to yield at the very least (assuming it wasn't one of those half coloured lights, aka there's half a set that is red and the other half a green if you know what I mean...though either case, the other vehicle would still be in the wrong).

I live in a rural area in the US, and here most of the accidents are hitting deer. Half the people I know have hit at least one. Videos don't make it onto the internet because it isn't noteworthy or interesting. The car might get totaled, but the people are usually safe. Fatal (to humans) accidents tend to involve one car going off the road, and maybe a tree.

@@Br3ttM I got hit by a deer in a 2017 hyundai elantra. I saw one standing in the road frozen staring at me like deer do in headlights. I hit the braks and kept hitting the horn and was able to stop short of hitting it. It took off into the woods and I sighed in relief and slowly started moving again when another one suddenly charged head first into my fender from the left side of the road, smashed the fender and drivers door to a point it wouldn’t open all the way.
