I just love the fact that the first person in the video was basically by themselves, in a subdivision, with barely any other cars around them, and yet they still managed to almost hit the only other driver on the road. It reminds me of those parking lot crashes where the people hit the one pole right in the middle

The airbags actually deployed on impact, it's just that he has tinted windows and the windows roll down automatically after a collision in case that the doors are jammed.

Regarding the snow clearing thing, I bought a cheap snow brush with a long extendable handle from Walmart years ago and it still works well enough for the purpose of dragging snow off the top of my vehicle.

I use a broom lmfao. We got three. Handle to clear big portions of the snow and then the sweeper bristles to “dust” it off

@@glass4600 The brush head on the tool I mentioned rotates 90 degrees and locks in place, lets you drag/push snow off the top of your car as if it were a pushbroom.

1:40 - I was going to give this guy a hard time for being a light weight and being tired after 4 hours of driving etc but honestly it doesn't matter how long or short a trip it takes people. Just don't drive exhausted. Stop and take a quick power nap in a walmart parking lot etc. It's not worth hurting yourself or someone else. It's no big deal to admit you're tired and take a break.

When you're tired, your reactions are slowed to begin with and when you're driving on snow/ice? That really messes with you and causes problems. I can sympathize with the "driving for 4 hours and I was tired" - I think it was about at the 4 hour mark in the 6 hour drive to my partner's parents house that my hips just really started hurting. Those bucket seats are awful! But I've also got hip problems, so that definitely doesn't help.

6:20 That's probably a 50/50 fault split, depending on the state. Mustang has wreckless driving for weaving between traffic, the Kia has wreckless driving for failure to yield, even if the mustang was still behind a car when they started their U-Turn. Hopefully the Kia's insurance fought it and won, but 50/50 is my limited experience guess.

I agree that the failure to yield was mitigated slightly by the oncoming vehicle's excessive speed. Therefore, they're both partially at fault. Although, I could see this being ruled 75/25, still the fault of the failure to yield, because the turning vehicle rolled through their U-turn without ever yielding at all. Which is why they didn't spot a vehicle in the shadows of that tree canopy... they executed the U-turn too hastily. They probably saw the cammer's vehicle and discounted anyone else coming out of the shadows. The other problem was the U-turn vehicle partially straddled both lanes, and the oncoming traffic had nowhere to go to avoid them, because it initially looked like they were going to move over, and then didn't... creating a larger target.

Sounds fair. I would say the turning car caused the accident but after seeing how the mustang was driving leading up to the crash, I’d say they both deserved it.

These U-turn rules in US seems odd. In my country you have never the right of way if performing a U-turn, they are mostly illegal in the first place.

Judging by the video: Cammer is more responsible for the crash. He/she didn't try to brake and actually aimed at the other car. Deliberate attempt at harming someone

You're actually not suppose to drive on the side of semi trucks. They have serious blind spots so you have to move quickly otherwise the truck won't see you.....

5:55 - oof there's a lot of poor decisions going on here. The black car was going WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too fast and driving far too recklessly. With that said - the vehicle making the u-turn had the duty to yield to oncoming traffic. Even if the speeder had not been there, the other traffic was far too close for that to have been a smart turn regardless.

Honestly, I'm willing to cut the U-turn a little slack on that one. Given that bit of hill and the fact that they'd just completed the U-turn when they got nailed, I doubt they even _saw_ that black car before it nailed 'em. They were probably completely focused on completing the turn (with their attention then on where their own vehicle is going, as it should be at that point in the maneuver) and accelerating out of the turn and into what would otherwise have been a fairly open lane that was safe to maneuver into.

Since we're seeing the event from a trailing vehicle, things seem a lot slower to us (and it's hard to estimate speeds visually, in any case), so we risk assuming the U-turning vehicle had more time to see and respond to what's going on than they actually had.

this is a tough one. all DUTIES come with the tag "reasonable" along with them. IE the Reaper has a duty to yield to REASONABLE traffic. not a guy doing AT LEAST double the speed limit. probably more. IE you can not properly judge the distance of a car going that fast. it is "not reasonable" to expect someone to be able to make that judgment. IE apply reasonable. had the mustang being going the speed limit WOULD they have hot the reaper? I am not sure. but it is definitely a question that needs to be answered BEFORE fault is determined.

3:53 even thought there is no visible damage to the car during a collision bring it somewhere to check because it can cause the frame of the car to bend and come of of alignment which can make the wheel alignment different or even change the behavior of the car.

I did when he started coming into the lane. If I was being a "not nice driver" then why would I brake? Just because the camera saw the indicator doesn't mean that I did since the camera is located in a different position to my line of sight.

You depress the clutch to disconnect the gears from the engine (leading to a lack of power to the engine) and then you move the gear stick into the gear you want leading to a spurt in power. If I didn't want to let him in, why would I break and why would I only honk the horn once he's actually in the lane? Also, no idea if it's common where you live but I was always taught to leave a car length gap between me and the car in front.

4:20 The truck should've waited for the car to pass, but the left lane was clear. The car could've gone around, but instead the driver became aggressive by getting on the truck's tail and laying on their horn. That's what I saw anyway.

That truck pulled out in plenty of time for that area. I mean, that's not a highway after all. It is probably 35 to 40 mph speed limit in that area. The cammer, however, looked to be going about 50. Bottom line, the cammer is just a huge douche. And that would be true even if the truck had pulled out too late. Plenty of room and time to pass even at his excessive speed. There was no emergency situation and thus no need to use the horn, especially not excessively... except to be a douche.

Agreed. I've seen similar clips in these compilations where someone had more than enough time to slow down or change lanes to avoid someone pulling into their lane but acted like an asshole cause the person merging into traffic wasn't fast enough for them. Sorry, but no. If you can see someone merging into your lane of traffic far enough ahead and you don't bother to change lanes (if possible - it isn't always feasible) OR slow down, then you're the dick. And yes, laying on the horn like that and tailgating them was even more of a dick move. Change langes and get out of there. Don't stick around and harass them. JFC.

The traffic moving has the RIGHT OF WAY. If you're going to pull out like that you can at least accelerate so the person who is in that lane doesn't need to slow down by more than half speed. If you pull out like this be prepared to accelerate at a acceptable rate, not lazy dogging the throttle and expecting people to drive around you. What if I needed to make a upcoming right turn?

Yes agreed. When making a right turn on red, hitting the gas then braking immediately gives the person behind you the impression that you are pulling away and making the turn. Thus, instead of looking forward, the person behind assumes the car is pulling away then they look to the left. It’s kind of a trickery situation, and people who are insurance frauds, do this regularly. And also, it’s a complete overreaction. By the driver.

This is correct, and anyone who has been to any driving school more advanced than the 8 hours they give you at 16 or whatever age should know it: aim where the car crossing your lane of travel came from, not where it is going. Unfortunately, things like this that occur during a panic moment need to be trained until its muscle memory, you can't just be told once and thats it. When the brain stem takes over "move away" is the overriding action. The theory is there but to the average person it simply isn't possible to get them to do it in the heat of the moment.

in regards to the snow. in most states where its common to get snow in the winter there is a regulation, i think, that you have to be able to maintain a clear view outside of your vehicle. that means fully clearing your front and rear windows and also you have to clear your roof as to not create a road hazzard

i dont know what is it with people and semi or trucks, the first thing i was taught before driving is to never cruise next to a semi, if you cant pass comfortably, just stay behind until you can.
