Ah yes! I felt the same way about Fingersmith! Everyone else seemed to love it, but I was quite disappointed by it. I felt like it was just repeating everything we had already read which bored me. BUT I also plan on reading her other works, cause they sound so interesting!

+Moriarty and Her Books Thank you!!! I like her writing style and her characters are really interesting. There was so much hype surrounding her as an author, so I had really high expectations that weren't quite met with this book. It was a solid read and I imagine she may have some really great reads in her bibliography since she's such a prolific writer. Which book of hers do you think you'll pick up next?

Man, super super interesting thoughts on An Untamed State, that is a book that I am very curious to read, and I need to make sure I bookmark this video so I can rewatch everything you had to say once I have the book in my brain. Ahh! Bummer about Fingersmith, I feel like a lot of people have mentioned that it is repetitive hearing the same thing from multiple points of view :/ I loved The Little Stranger? I think that is the title, so I have this fantastical idea of wanting to read all of Sarah Waters, but I might keep this one for later so that it doesn't turn me off of her writing. Yay! Glad you are loving the Ferrante series!!! I adore it so far, only have one book left. It is incredible. Going to try reading it in Italian next year? Maybe? If I am super ambitious? Plus I just already want to reread it even though I haven't finished the series yet. Ohmygosh, I am sorry that my message kinda got you, lol. I was wondering what happened :) Glad I maybe kinda inspired you to reread it? Maybe? That book has SO MUCH in it. I really wanted to do a review of it, but I just think there are too many things to say and that I am super not smart enough to do it well. Because seriously...SO MUCH HAPPENS. Even right now talking about it I am having all these feelings and I don't know how to express them. Also if you wanna get reals crazy and buddy read Black Boy with me eventually, I got that one on my shelves now :) Sorry this message is so long...I am behind on all the things :)

I felt the same about Fingersmith! Enjoyed it, but nothing spectacular. I liked The Little Stranger more. I also think that once the story is told (in this case Harry Potter) it quite often will remain better if you don't try to resuscitate too long. It sometimes works out..but rarely. Can you make a review video on the trilogy by Ferrante? :)

+Peony hey I've only read the first two books in the Neapolitan series (I believe there are 4) but I did post a review on the second book. I might do a review on the whole series when I finish it. How you feel about Harry Potter is exactly how I feel. The longer you continue to tinker with it the more likely you are to screw it up. I feel like the reason HP was so well written in the first place is because Rowling had a clear ending and didn't let the series go on too long. I'm really afraid she's going to screw it up if she keeps adding to the canon.

i've been interesting into picking up An Untamed State but i've a bit apprehensive because of the very graphic description. i really enjoyed Fingersmith but i have to say it did feel a bit repetive, especially in the middle. man, i've tried to read the first book in the Napolitian series but i can get into it... but i really want to read, like really. i'm going to try again before the end of summer. i tried reading Invisible Man in second year of college but it was too early for me, for starter my english wasn't good enough for such a book and i just wasn't ready. i want to read HP and the Cursed Child but not that much becaus ei do not have this heavy relationship with the HP series because i did not grew up with it and read it when i was 23 so... i'm really curious to hear your thoughts on it becaus ei do read plays and yes they are very different from prose.

+Manika Wangata For some reason I really relate to the protagonist in Ferrante's series. Maybe because I grew up in a poor neighborhood and was one of few to go to college or maybe because I had a good friend growing up who I loved deeply but who I also often competed with and compared myself to. They aren't very plot heavy and I can see why some people may find them a bit slow and boring but I loved both books and flew through both of them. Something about them really speaks to me. Definitely try Invisible Man again. I think it's right in your wheelhouse based on other books I know you've loved. Ellison is definitely in the same league as Richard Wright and James Baldwin.
