This week we're going to take a look at how I install under the track magnets for uncoupling KD couplers. But before we do that I want to share with you a few changes I am making to the original trackplan. It's always a good idea to lay out some rolling stock and building kits on the trackplan once it is transferred to the layout just to make sure everything fits the way you expected it to. In this case it didn't, which led to a cascade of changes. However I think the changes create a much more esthetically pleasing design that will be more interesting to operate. So let's get started!

If you use alcohol when you apply bakkast, DO NOT use a red Sharpie ! It will bleed all the way back up, and spoil the ballast coloring. Ask me how I know.

Ok, so when you say with DCC control, you are using address ”0” to run it? If that is the case then that is just the way the motor responds to the way DCC systems that support “0” bit stretching to run DC analog locos go about doing it and one of the limitations of the process. It is not recommended that you do this often or for very long, only as a way to test the operation of a new loco before installing a decoder. Most people I know turn this feature off in their command stations as it can interfere with regular DCC operations.

Hey Larry, could you have used some double-slip switches instead of the multiple L & R turnouts? Could save some space that way :-)

Yes, but they are a pain to deal with and install. My basic philosophy is to keep it simple for easier operations and maintenance. Railroads avoided complicated switching scenarios unless absolutely necessary to avoid complexity and added costs and so do I. Just because you can do something does not mean you should do it, very often the opposite is true!

Hi Larry, I apologize if I missed this discussion earlier but, can you talk about some of the differences you would have to take into consideration if these modules were being made to fit into a free-mo layout?

Sorry, I know nothing about Fremo, but you can you should be able to take a look at their standards and compare to what I am doing and adjust accordingly.

Hi, DDC GUY Larry. I have a locomotive it is running fast with DC Power control, when I transfer to DCC power control it is move very slowly .please advise

Stuart is right about this, but also check your settings for analog operation, you may be able to make adjustments that way too depending on the decoder.
