I could never do that, because I just can't pretend I care, if I don't. By that I mean the bit about being a greeter of sorts. It's a waste of time to me, though on rare occasion I'll do it just for change of pace. Instead, I do the opposite of what you do, and in fact did an experiment because I was already quite good talking to girls. Over the span of 3-4 years, I came up with 100 samples, and scored 100%, perhaps something along your own lines, where every random woman I did it to was obviously pleased I interrupted them. I only achieved 100 samples because the main goal was to only speak to a woman if something came to my mind to state, and this meant there were times I went three months without anything solid to state. My main point was to say something to them fact-based, maybe just what butter they use or something more complex. I never resorted to small talk, as I HATE it. People who use small talk all the time, seem to think you can't get by without it, but it's very far from the truth, and each individual bumps into all sorts of people through their lives, and the one who initiates the greeting, as I did, in the style I did, guarantees they will adjust to that style. Believe it or not, women very plainly enjoy getting talk that seems to have a purpose, and I wouldn't know about the small talk nonsense, since I never use it. Women are clearly a bit starved to have a man interrupt them, who not only isn't trying to sell them something, but has no ulterior motives, like trying to gleam romance out of them (getting phone number *cough*, etc). I like some of your other points, which undergird a lot of what I was doing, like not really having a point to doing it. The main thing I really like about it, is that it's almost impossible to be rejected. Why? Because nothing is on the line really. We're just two humans talking, and we're not getting into romance. Great stuff. If only I knew how to do this when I was younger. It's when guys go romantic to some degree, is where they get shot down, and all a guy has to do, with somebody he will bump into a few times, such as at school, is just talk to your target in that manner quite a bit, in order to get her, and you, used to each other, then when there seems to be some mutual interest try going more along the romantic lines a bit and see how they react (asking her out). Yes, we're wording things a bit different, but you can see we're at least largely along the same paths. A slightly funny story for you. My last talking to girls occurrence, was actually two girls at the same time, and it went a bit better than I would've wanted. I started off waiting a long time at my bank, to transfer some money to new cd's. For some odd reason, those girls over there never know how to make cd's very well. I was daft enough not to bring a book, foolishly thinking I would be in and out (how could I be so dumb?), so I sat around staring at the walls until the first girl got started with me. She was fairly bad at it, so I gradually started working on her, talking about some odd things like the sort of weird monitor she had, and gave her plenty of breathing room to do the work as well. She couldn't do it all, so in came her female manager. The manager and I REALLY got to talking, and somehow or other I actually guided this whole group into who talked when, or it felt that way anyway, and the manager asked me some questions I thought were for the cd's, but then she asked some more personal stuff, like if I had any friends in my neighborhood. Uh-oh, I don't think that has anything to do with cd's. That was a warning shot, but I didn't really realize it entirely. Manager helps the other girl, and all three of us are talking, and the manager said they might need me to come back, because they were uncertain whether what they did would float with HR. And then the manager told me "And if that happens, you can come back and talk to us again" Woah, I didn't expect that. And to make matters worse? At the end of what she said, as I was getting up to leave, I heard a very small squeal come out of her mouth, like I turned her on or something😮 (I was talking to them just like they were friends, even though they were strangers - I have that skill), and the other girl went right along. Thankfully I didn't have to go back.
