My Ex Wife of 22 years filed for divorce for being disconnected and unhappy in the marriage. At the end she would scream and yell at me over various things that had happened in the past that she held onto. No matter how many times I would ask her to "talk to me", "lets work things through", "lets go to couples counseling" she didn't want to. I'm not without blame and did my share of mistakes over the years. A couple of things that I noticed over the years was that she never showed any type of emotion towards me even though I would ask for it, She had a hard time asking for help, She was also incapable to apologize or recognize when she was at fault though she did show some empathy from time to time. Through the good and the bad I held on and weathered the storm, she decided to leave our home in Sept 2021 and moved into her moms. We still communicated and did things with the kids but I left things as is and did not try to push her decision and things stayed like that up until Dec 2022 were I started to notice that she was more distant and would not be at her moms when I dropped of the kids I would text her and she always said, Ill be there in 5 mins, after many occurrences like this I called her out on it. I knew her Ex boyfriend from H.S. was still in the area and looked him up and wouldn't you know he was also divorced. I mentioned it to her only to be met with "don't concern your self with my personal life" though at this point we were still legally married. In April our divorce became final and she completely blocked (text/phone calls/social media). I could not understand since we both were suppose to co-parent our teenage kids... The next part gutted me.. she hid this from me and told both of our kids not to say anything... but the kids told me anyway... against her better judgement she got remarried to her Ex H.S. boyfriend 3 months later, bought a house and is now living there with his 3 kids and our 2 kids.... I dont even know where to begin when I think about her decision to do this... it makes absolutely no sense. She Monkey Branched/ Rebounded into this relationship, did not deal with ANY of our traumatic events from our 22 year marriage and what's worse she didnt even care about how this was going to impact our kids...... I dont get it... the fact that she remarried her ex.. was a slap on my face honestly.. and it looks like this looser was orbiting us for the last 22 years. So while shes out there playing house with 5 kids and this dude Im left here picking up the pieces and wonder what the heck did I just go through in the last 22 years. What signs did I not see with her Narcissistic traits... learning to detach and learn to heal from this trauma bond I have with her... All these years I always noticed that I was only happy when she was around.. and felt sad when she wasn't.... like getting a high from a substance. Im at a loss for words honestly that she had the audacity to shove this in our kids faces... Now a days people use marriage like a sales receipt and really means nothing... Im trying to work on myself and begin the healing journey... there is no way in heck I would ever think about jumping into another relationship let alone MARRY!!! someone??!?!?!?!?!

This is exactly what happened to me-my ex was a DA (which I realized after he broke up abruptly and was so emotionally shutdown, he couldn’t have a real conversation). Two months later, he jumped into another relationship, one month after that his oldest son was killed in a motorcycle accident, and four months later he got engaged to the rebound. He has so many things he hasn’t processed or healed from, starting with his divorce before me. I was shocked that he got engaged so fast, but it seems that he’s just running from his pain and distracting himself and trying to convince everyone that he’s doing great. Reality will hit, because all of his baggage and issues are still there! There’s no way this isn’t a rebound-he hasn’t done any work on anything. Sigh.

my biggest fear came true, my ex of 6 years got engaged a year after we broke up. I don't even know how to feel, I'm so numb to this pain.

I'm in the middle of it right now. Started January 9th of this year. My ex and I have been together for 8 years, and we have a 2 and half year old daughter together. He was asking about her dad about her, etc. Apparently, he is in rehab and is reaching out to people from his past. She contacts him, and then it begins. Long story short and a lot of conversations and incidents since, yesterday she told me that they are getting married. My mind is melting. This bum in rehab is married with two kids. So in 6 weeks, two families have been destroyed. Doesn't make sense.

This is the truth! We try, and we try and eventually reach a point where we stop trying. When we reach that point, the clues are there. We go cold. We dont want to spend time with you. We dont want to be intimate with you and everything you do will piss us off. You might as well not be there. We're just going with it until we have a firm exit plan. And no, that doesn't always involve someone new. But to us, we're no longer mentally in the relationship. We just haven't told you yet. This is why you often think when we're talking to someone new, we're monkey branching or cheating or rebounding or whatever else. To us, it doesnt feel like it. It's just a new relationship. Some of us have the decency to end things before we go there, but the feeling is the same. Sometimes it takes meeting someone new who makes us smile again to provide the catalyst to actually give up what doesn't.
