Haven’t driven a genesis but don’t need to because the stinger is amazing! Get compliments every time I drive it!

Nice video Joe! I’d say it’s both amazing how far genesis Kia Hyundai have come but also how far behind some other brands have suddenly become!

having sat on g80's interior, i can't help but think the new refresh of g70 will be a complete stunner.

Those seats and door stitching are beautiful, but i like the stinger better. I had the privilege to look at both and ended up choosing the stinger.

Genesis for me. Stinger looks boy-racerish, G70 looks more grown up, imo. You really can't go wrong with either one though.

Excellent review of an excellent car. Does the Genesis have a custom setting that Stingers have? I have set up my Stinger so that I get great sports performance with wonderful handling and a comfortable ride.

On your video of the black/ charcoal grey Genesis G70 3.3, 2019 the side vents were functional. So they changed it for 2020 or is it optional to have it funtion?

They do have the dynamic or sport package that darkens the inside headlights and darker chrome trims on the exterior.

What was the option package on this one, Sport or? Thanks again for a nice review and compare!

Stinger Looks More Sportier than the GV70, Plus it's a sportback too 🔥

Both are excellent cars and depends on your use. Last week I test drove the G70 3.3 AWD and then day later the Stinger GT Limited AWD (GT2 in US). The Genesis really surprised me as even though it is much shorter I was shocked how small the back seat and trunk space was, inside it fits tight for the driver but I was okay with that. Then drove the Stinger and everything they say is true, as this is a grand touring car for long hauls which is exactly what I do!!! Back seat is good and trunk/hatch is very large and usable. So yup bought the Stinger and maybe in a few years the new G80 once they iron out the bugs. Gotta love the red leather as first day guy at Starbucks drive thru says man luv the red leather :) You cant go wrong with either as if we were a two car family and wife had a SUV I may very well have taken the G70!!!!

Hey, guys, I drove both before picking the stinger....oh...oh oh, the practicality of the Kia. The G70 is more elegant inside, yes, but that hatch almost gives you a SUV built in....finally, the stinger GT1 has the old style shifter (cable shifter), but has a true manual mode the G70 or GT2 do not. I was “stung”! Thanks for the well done reviews.

Very nice. Gives a upmarket air on the exterior over the Stinger, Stinger is more sporty. Definitely prefer the G70 interior. However, we don't get the Genesis brand in the Uk😭 arghhhhhh😞

For me it's Stinger all the way for that gorgeous interior. I'm waiting for the 2021 though because UVO Link and widescreen infotainment for Android Auto are must-haves. The lack of LSD and the softer handling are things I can either fix myself or take to a tuner to install new swaybars. FWIW the side vents ARE functional; look through them with a flashlight in the wheel well and you will see light and they're not just blind holes. Stinger has the same feature, only it's styled differently. If you buy either the G70 or a Stinger install a screen into the wheel well because if you don't and you don't have your car wrapped (or if you skip the PPP option) you WILL get chips toward the back of the door and front of the rear quarter because of the pebbles the tires will kick up through that side vent. For the money, nothing at all comes close to the value.

Love, love the G70, but seriously having a hard time getting my hands on a manual here in Vegas. Local dealers do not have any coming in and flat out told me they will not do a dealer trade for a manual either. Buying from surrounding states has failed as well. Anyway, great review as usual!

Neither better nor worse, Joe. Different. The Stinger is a version of a European GT sedan (liftback) tailored for an American audience. The G70 is a sports sedan very much in the German tradition. Designers in the Hyundai/KIA/Genesis conglomerate are especially adept at offering vehicles that share platforms, components, and drive trains while appealing to different consumer tastes.

Genesis for me have 2019 model, sport package everything can’t really complain for everything I got for the price I paid!

The G70 could be my next car although it won’t be for another couple of years. They have an AWD option for this car. AWD would be the option I would choose living in Minnesota. The stinger has Kia written all over it. That’s a deal breaker for me. You did a review on a red G70 several months ago. It was a very attractive automobile. Excellent review once again Joe!!! 👍

The interior definitely is put together better than my stinger, but I like how my GTS looks more.

My front plate is going to ruin the look of that grill. I prefer the Stinger GT line especially the gray in your review.

the Stinger looks better on the outside... better looking back and tail-lights, also bigger trunk and more legroom. the Genesis is better inside mainly because of the seats stiching, but the Stinger has options for red or grey interior to counter that better looking interior of the G70 (I ordered mine with red seats and micro blue exterior). I was initially dissapointed I couldn't get the G70 in Europe, but after watching videos of it, I don't feel like I'm missing much anymore, I ultimately like the Stinger better for the reasons above.

Genesis gets the win for the interior but Stinger get the win for exterior. I just got a 2020 Stinger GT and loving it. I think this is perfect for someone looking for a less sporty exterior look. Maybe I get my Wife this one.

I’m 6’4 and needed the jaws of life to get out of that back seat. Wish there was a little bit more space. Thinking about getting the stinger.

If anyone is stuck between the Stinger and the G70 - consider this, the buying and service experience with the Genesis brand is leagues above Kia's. When purchasing your car, they provide you with a dedicated concierge member, and a service valet when it's time to perform maintenance on your vehicle.

Blue is my favorite color but the G70 looks so much better in the grey that you often see it in. Hate the infotainment screen. It should be lower and wider. Overall though, a good bargain.

Im surprised at the lack of backseat room. My old Charger could fit 2 adults in the back with no problem.

The Kia Stinger Gt and the Genesis G70 3.3.T, are both Beautiful, reliable ,fast, and fun to drive cars. My Genesis G70 is my personal vehicle. My daily driver. Currently I have over 34k miles after 14 months of ownership. My kids are adults, so I don't need rear seat passenger space nor do I need a large trunk. When it comes to choosing between the two rockets, ask yourself "what are my needs?" I consider the Kia Stinger Gt more of a family vehicle. You can carry the family and large cargo. My wife and I currently own 3 vehicles (it was 4,but we sold our 2007 Hyundai Accent to our oldest son) We have 2006 Hyundai Tucson,(waiting for the Genesis Gv70 to replace it with), 2012 Hyundai Azera, and 2019 Genesis G70. The Genesis G70 (to me) is more of a personal vehicle. If you have other vehicles or no family, then choose the Genesis G70 , if this is going to be your only vehicle , then consider the Kia Stinger. (Especially if you have / will have a family). You can't go wrong either way. So let your needs be your helper in choosing between them. Do yourself a favor, test drive them both. If you don't, Joe might ZONK YOU!

The simple answer is yes and Exhaustsportsauto did a review on it and said it drove WAYYY better than that Kia stinger (which already drove quite good) 😁👍

I know the 3.0 is great, but I’d like to at least test drive a 2.0 Sport with manual transmission. If that’s great, too, I’d definitely go with it over any Stinger.

I would go with the G70, I like the look of it more and the interior.

Ah but wait.. the new Lexus IS series is about to be revealed in a couple of days (9 June) and rumor has it that there will be an IS 500 model that will get a V8 engine. I hear that its built on the same platform as the current model but that it has been heavily revamped inside and out. If it all turns out true then sadly the G70 might have to step down from its podium.

I have the Stinger GT2. I love it. I’d prefer it over G70 all over again. It’s personal preference though. Whatever floats your boat. Both great cars, no doubt. One thing bugged me about G70 also is no LED turning lights in rear. At this price point, it should.
