There are so many things Oscar and I cover in this podcast that your head will spin. From the top level competitive training to dangerous and deadly dogs. Oscar Mora is back and we have a lot to talk about.
Oscar and I have been training together and filming together for a new project that will be out in the next couple of months. Besides that Oscar has been a huge help with my new puppy Schmuley and for that I am very grateful. Oscar is not only a GREAT dog trainer, but a man of his word, a man of high character and a good friend.... even though I'm old enough to be his dad! LOL!
We talk about Malinois, protection dogs, sport dogs, Corsos and just about every other dog - and the conversation could go on forever! I respect Oscar's training approach as well as his character as a decent man... a family man, a competitor and a friend.

Really great episode! It is such a treat to hear from all the guests you have on & the many different parts of the dog world. From trainers to breeders & everyone in between. I always enjoy watching these on YT, even though I have been a member on your site since the beginning. Figure it will help YT throw these into more feeds! Thank you both, Oscar & Robert. Keep it up!

Oscar Mora always comes off as so humble. Really capable but humble is a formidable combination. He's the exact opposite of that bloviating hot dog guy who likes to bully people who don't agree with him.

I have 3 dogs...all large...my most recent is a rescue a great dane/mastiff..I am 64 yrs old and didn't want a 3rd dog but he was being kicked and I could see that he was getting more aggressive so I took him. He is 120 lbs and had to be in a crate for a year until I got a house away from the abuser. He has a 20ft lead cuz I have no fence BUT he is happy..I threw the crate away and tho I can't walk him cuz he drags me around like a ragdoll he is happy and healthy. I do separate him from my other 2 dogs cuz my blue healer goes for him but it's ok cuz they are all healthy and happy. God bless you for your work and I agree wholeheartedly on your views

The pulling is an easy fix that will allow you to walk him while you address his training needs, your blue heeler also has issues that need immediately attention. Stating your dogs are "healthy and happy" is an excuse for their lack of training, and you know this deep inside your consciousness. It isn't 'IF' there will be a dog fight, an expensive catastrophic injury or you get badly injured yourself but 'WHEN' these events will happen. I am 62 and have had high energy/drive dogs throughout my life, I also work and train my dogs 2-4 tines a day every day during their lives. Currently I have two very high drive breeds, a Belgian Malinois and a German Wire-haired Pointer but after getting yanked off my feet twice (strained/pulled muscles, nerve damage, mild whiplash and a few abrasions and bruises) I put both in prong collars and it never happened again. Prong collars aren't meant to be constantly yanked on in a nagging way but used as an instant correction that's unforgettable combined with a hard NO!. I would look for a balanced trainer to help you sort this out before you get hurt to the point where you'll have to make a difficult decision for your dogs because of health. A well trained dog is easier to place, This is the hard reality for people our age.

We rescued a white shepherd a couple months ago, 5 months old, the only thing she knew was sit for a treat... had to keep a long line on her for the 1st 2 weeks so we could stop her chasing the cats chickens geese horses cows sheep lol everything!!!!!! But now, 2 months later she's doing great, doesn't chase anything but a running cat, so she has learned her name, what to do and what not to do! Man what a project!! But she's a good smart girl And a great crazy addition to our crazy 9 dog herd!!!

I respect you guys for respecting other trainers my elders told me that when you train horses you start getting pride and grace of a horse… When I see dog trainers fighting and bitching about other dog trainers I see them as untrained dogs behaving miserably, so to some degree it’s true people do pick up behaviors of animals they train :)

I love that, Robert. Science in dog training is (should be) the study of what works. Not the study of what proves your point. That's not science.

Different generations feel differently about dogs. My Hispanic mother thought I should put my 13 year old dog down because he had heart failure. She was mad that I had him on meds to help his heart until the dog was ready to leave me. Mom thought it was a waste of money I thought it helped the dog live a better life til the end

(response to comment about hitting and applying it to spanking kids) They did studies on spanking and found it to be harmful however Did they measure degree of force? Children's sensitivities or lack thereof? Type of 'offense' committed to justify said spanking? Data is one thing, interpreting is another.

@53:30- I think part of the problem with the person you're referring to is 💯 an ego thing. Cant admit when he is out of his lane and very little humility from what I've seen. If you flip that, to say trainers on the other side, the majority of them will speak up about times they've messed up, realized it and found a better way. I believe theres also somewhat of an agenda involved unfortunately also. Good podcast very interesting to listen to you to fellas talk. Also, thanks for turning me on to Larry. I've learned a lot just by listening to him and his experiences over the years.

There's a lot of ignorance (lack of knowledge and education) about animals across all cultures. I'll never forget when I went as an exchange student to stay with an upper middle class Italian family. They had a cat. They named it "Uly" - short for "Ulysses." They thought the cat was a boy. I let them know the cat was pregnant (I was 17 at the time), because...to me, it was obvious. A week later, the cat delivered her litter. Punchline - the father of this family was a physician. Animals are often ignored and misunderstood, at all socioeconomic levels, across all cultures.
