Hi Terry. Just grab yourself an old compass for camping and hold it up to the front diff. If there is a magnet in there the compass should easily find it. 😉 PS. It looks like you’ve done a boot going into the front diff.

Thank you Robert, you are very kind and I am humbled that you found the video useful. The pumps are magic and bloody cheap for what they are. In true Terry fashion, I did modify the pump when I got it. It had alligator clips on it and I cut them off and replaced them with an Andersen plug. Now it just plugs into a spare port I have on my aux battery, simples☺️👍

Toyota engineers took the day off when deciding on the front diff fill and drain plugs. Why would they not use the same 24mm plugs as the rear diff and T-case?! And when attempting to get adequate leverage under a rig that is not on a lift, jack or ramps is next to impossible. Fortunately one can pump it out the fill hole, but it weighs heavy on my Land Cruiser-loving soul that the drain plug is stuck for another 20 or 30,000 miles…

Hi, I love your videos and how easy they are to follow. I have a question regarding the 12v pump, what is the best method to clean the pump for the next fluid you use?
@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures 7 ай бұрын
Good question mate. I leave the prior fluid in it when I pack it away and the next time I use it I flush a litre or so of the old fluid that I am replacing through it. For example, if the last time I used it was for ATF, and I’m doing diff fluid next, I will drain the old diff fluid and flush a litre of the old fluid through the pump before using it for the new diff fluid. Cheers👍😎

Don't know how much of a lift you have but the inner CV boot looks like it might be wearing a groove into the the last fold from friction contact with its neighbor. It could just be a clean spot but Toyota CVs don't like high angles on the inner CV boot much and can wear through where the contact is being made.
@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for pointing that out mate, I went out to the shed and double checked. It is just a clean spot, no wear in the boot at all. I installed a diff drop kit when I put my 2” lift in to bring those CV angles back where they should be so it would have surprised me if there was actual wear on the boot. Again, thanks for pointing that out mate, had it been an issue you could have saved my bacon as I’m sure it would have let go in the middle of nowhere. Good thing a carry a spare CV in my spares kit. Have an amazing week mate, cheers 😎👍

@@JafffaAdventures No worries. I wound up with too little lift from an OME lift on a Tacoma in the states. I went with the next coil size up and would up with too much. Since they were not adjustable and I have unlocking hubs I decided to run it to see if the springs settled. But even with a dropped diff it didn't take much for what looked like a shiny spot to become a groove. Then the groove failed on brand new Toyota OEM CVs I paid a fortune for. Not a fun time rebooting them and I have since gone with coilovers to dial the height down and higher angle boots as a precaution. But that few seconds of video made the spot look shiny enough to freak me out lol.

Is it fine if I used 85w90 or should stick with what the manual says because by mistake I just changed it and don’t know If should change it again a little help please it would a lot to me thank u
@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures Жыл бұрын
Mate, I have run 85w90 before without any problems whatsoever so I suspect you will not have a problem. The heavier weight lubricants are better in warmer climates or extreme driving conditions, but fair fine in everyday driving situations. The important part is the GL category. GL5 is specified and I would stick with that. GL4 has half the amount of extreme pressure additives. If your 85w90 is a GL5 your are good, if it’s a GL4 or lower I would dump it. Cheers👍😎
