@Joe Ruiz strike back was better than this movie but i agree with everything he said about reboot. i watched it the other night and i had to force myself to finish it. the winks and nods to the camera were annoying from the first one on. i laughed a little bit at two different parts its just not a good movie.

@Joe Ruiz good for who ever that was. it was just a bad movie. it was beat for beat of strike back without good jokes. if thats what he was trying to say about reboots he got but still didnt enjoy it. strike back is funny but is dated. i can watch that one every now and then. will never watch this one again. just like three from hell.

Totes agree. This guy says hes a fan of KS but then goes on to say how it was Clerks that he really identified with and I think that was it. This clearly was a movie for the hardcore fans that have enjoyed the universe in its entirety, hence its limited release. All the references TOTALLY took me through various phases in my life from like 15 to (oof) closing in on 40 damn im old and i had some good ‘bust out laughing’ moments, not a lot but they were there. Anyhoo I can definitely see how a casual KS fan or someone who really just dug a few of his flicks were like “fuuuuck this movie.” All done rant/run on sentences. NUNG.

Chasing Amy is Kevin Smith's best film. It still holds up as a legitimately great relationship drama.
@corbanblake8359
@corbanblake8359 4 жыл бұрын
Probably because it is his relationship drama. It's about him and Joey Lauren Adams. He wrote it as an apology for her. I'm going to assume that it's not accurate to what actually happened, but the same sort of jealousy is something he mentioned on a podcast a few months ago.
@earlchatterton9133

Yeah I generally like Smith (although some of them are terrible), but the best he'll probably ever be is Chasing Amy. It's hilarious but it works so well as a character drama with a lot of powerfully acted moments. I saw it in the theater and it was the first time I really became aware of Affleck, and he's fantastic in it.

As far as movies go, it's kind of the only true "movie" in the universe stable so yeah, lol. Cant really make a sound arguement against the choice (and it's really good to boot) The others are largely just a collection of friends hanging out having a blast together doing crazy and clever ideas they had pop into their head - but I dig that endlessly and, because of that, Dogma rises to the top for me.

I also liked that in chasing amy silent Bob had a very deep monolog, that helped Holden realize what he thought he should do in his dilemma. It seems like it came back around full circle where as now Holden is helping jay realize what he should do. It almost feels like it was done that way on purpose, or in am thinking way to deep into it lol. You just never know with these damn kevin smith movies lol.

I saw this during the road show. The commentary about the film was admittedly better than the film itself. But, I didn't hate it. This was the movie he used to tie up as many loose ends as he could from his previous films. He made this movie, following his heart attack, as if this were the last movie he'd ever made. The movie is about fatherhood and finishing what you started. I definitely dig it. I think the ideology and the heart behind this movie are what make it endearing, not necessarily the movie itself, and I think that's what makes Kevin Smith so special; he puts his heart into his movies. When he doesn't, it shows (Cop Out, anyone?). Stoked for Clerks III.

As a big fan of Chasing Amy all the fanservice reserved for that movie made me very happy. For me that scene alone made the movie worth it

I saw a double feature of both the Jay and Silent Bob films a couple months ago. I feel like having an audience to watch these movies with is the way to go, because it really does add another layer to the film that makes it more enjoyable as if everyone is in on the jokes together.

Exactly the thing that turns me off - fan culture group think. They all laugh at the same stuff, and get hight off inside jokes. Way too many here. But been a fan of his writing since seeing clerks in a 1st run theater.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back HAS aged well! It's crude humour is fucking amazing, and I wish Reboot was just as gruesome in Jay's words ahah

What's going on with that Jaws poster? It looks like Jaws 2 but the skier is missing and what's in the sharks mouth? Thank you.

I enjoyed it for sure. Like you said it’s a love letter to all of his previous films and I enjoyed all the little cameos he had in it. Could of been better, but still enjoyable. Also my favorite by him is the first Clerks. It’s easily one of my favorite comedy’s, but I love Mattrats and Dogma.

I totally 100% agree with you because not only did they clean up the material but they also clearly cleaned up Jay way.... too much because he wasn't as rude, crude, lude, fowl, and raunchy as the old Jay from the '90s and early-mid '2000s that we all know and love.

Personally I enjoy all of his films. You go from Clerks to Chasing Amy to Strike Back to Cop out to Red State to Tusk. All of those are different types of movies(sure he's done more Clerks and Strike back than Jersey girl or Red State) but yet you can tell the Kevin Smith influence. Some aren't as good like Jersey girl, Zack and Miri or Tusk but even they have their moments. My favorites are Clerks through Strike Back, Red State and Clerks 2.

Favourite Kevin Smith movie is a tie Between Dogma and Clerks 2. BUT, I could easily argue Chasing Amy as his “best”

I was not disappointed in this movie. I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan, and enjoyed all the throwbacks and seeing what his characters are up to. That being said, I might be a bit biased.. as I worked a couple days on this movie as Silent Bob's photodouble. Snootchie Bootchies!

Amazon has it now, and watched it... and yeah, I agree with you on this...wtf?? Esp the reveal of one of the girls at the end, and then the movie really goes south o.0 It kinda felt like a luv letter to himself LOL For me, I still kinda like Dogma and Strike Back, but haven't watched either in awhile, but I still like his speaking gigs, as I like to tell long stories of stuff I've done i.e. I'm telling you this story to tell you another story xD
