Something neat happened while I was doing this lab, I setup the initial NAT configurations and then pinged the DNS server from PC1 to make sure it worked. After that, I got distracted and started watching videos on KZfaq, I came back to the lab after a few minutes and continued the pings on PC2 and 3, and to my initial surprise, the ping on PC3 went through without a problem. Then I realized what happened, I went back to try the ping on PC1 again like the first time and sure enough, it failed! In the time that I was away from the lab, the router automatically cleared the NAT translations since they weren't in use. It was really cool to see this NAT function in action!

How do you get the split screen in netsim ? Separating the lab document from the device console window so you can view simultaneously. I've been searching the manual to no avail.

Hi Jeremy. I used the following command without "overload" and everything worked nevertheless. What is the explanation? ip nat inside source list 1 int g0/0
@syedyousafbukhari2213
@syedyousafbukhari2213 9 ай бұрын
Dynamic worked for you, i think. since there is only the keyword difference of "overload" in PAT and Dynamic. Although we didn't learn the Dynamic configuration with interfaces, rather it was with pools...

Hi everyone, i am trying to build the same lab but having issue with connection. There are 2 options for cloud in PT, cloud-pt, cloud-empty and for server too, 5506, 5505. the cloud has only 1 ethernet connection so I cant connect the otherside with the server with the cross-over cable. any has any answer for that

I tried issuing 'ip nat inside source list 1 interface g0/0' without 'overload' just to test it, and R1 translated the local IP addresses to the same public IP address, with each host having a different port number when I looked at 'show ip nat translation.' I believe this is a bug in Packet Tracer???

I noticed this one. The nat translations table of dynamic NAT's inside global address is 100.0.0.1 or 2, while the inside global address of PAT is 203.0.113.1 (R1's g0/0). Why is this? Maybe I have missed something in the lecture. Somebody enlighten me
@vulpritprooze

Oh wait. What a fool I am haha. We used external interface this time, not NAT pool. With so many information, I couldn't have known, but practice really tests one's knowledge. This is great learning experience.

2 to 102 includes 101 numbers, so 2 to 101 is 100 numbers. It’s like counting from 0 to 100, it’s 101 numbers in total (1 to 100 would be 100 numbers).
@larryvankuiken7506
@larryvankuiken7506 2 жыл бұрын
I initially put it in as 101 - the correct number for 100 available addresses - and NetSim graded it incorrectly because their solution used 102. After I fixed it to match their math, the lab still graded incorrectly because my statements were out of order. I'll probably need to reload and redo the lab to get it to grade correctly. Just a minor annoyance.
