Yes, the Jico just sounds more transparent and open

Judging the irregular movement of the stylus, the friction of the tonearm bearings is great. This will have bad effect on the damper of the stylus and may mistrack on high modulation groove.

Watching the mechanics of that stylus is very interesting

JICO sounds more vibrant, you have to consider the age of the suspension, Shure is now over 40 years old

The magnet on that old 35 MR needs a recharge! Take a rare earth supermagnet and place it near the tiny magnet at the upper end of the needle (Not the diamond!) overnight! Next morning your MR sings!

Shure sound more smooth

To me, the JICO SAS cantilever/stylus has a bit of a wider soundstage over the original Shure VN35-MR. Judging from the bouncier movement of the cantilever, the JICO SAS also looks as though it might have a higher compliance compared to the Shure VN35-MR (but I could be wrong).

The Jico has an edge to it that the MR doesn't have. The MR sounds more natural. I think some would perceive the edge as more detail but to me it sounds like a hint of distortion in the high end, though loading and phono preamp choice could balance this out.

The Jico is better you can really notice it on the Triangle, it's a little more subdued with the MR.
