I never noticed the young priest was played by Michael McManus, aka, Kai from Lexx.

Keep re-watching this episode because it has some of the best flashbacks in Season 1. Nick with Joan of Arc are really good especially the first time they meet. Nick being all calmly menacing with his self assured scowl on his face, telling Joan its too bad she won't make it to her next destination is very chilling. He's actually more scary onscreen when he acts that way. Gotta love the way she called him out right to his face and even knew his full human name. Guess Nick had a very heavy rep in France. Its one of the first, maybe the only time you see an almost victim of Nick's past depravity give him some serious pause. Would have liked to have seen more of their interactions since these are the best scenes in this episode next to Nick getting chewed out by the young priest for desecrating the confessional. I imagine his meeting Joan was the defining moment when Nick realized that he could at least start thinking of turning himself around to start figuring out how to become human again and realize being a vamp isn't his real nature.

Never heard of this series before but I watched the first two episodes (it's on youtube!!) and boy am I hooked!! This is great

As a fan of Forever Knight, I immediately remembered the Joan of Arc character on this show and she was played by Christina Cox. I'm going to have to watch all of your videos now because not only did I watch the original run of this show in the 1990s (I'm 47 now) but I also downloaded the episodes last year. I hope you did a video for when Nick was possessed by a demon because while the episode is intense, it is funny too!

Mildred, this show is reminding me a LOT of Lost Girl. Have you seen Lost Girl? Campy 2010s Canadian procedural mystery fantasy-horror, starring a bisexual protagonist who is a succubus, which is basically just a vampire for the purposes of this show except the sexuality stuff is less of a metaphor. There is also a hilariously broody werewolf detective. And every other mythological creature you could imagine cramming into a 45 minute monster-of-the-week mystery. Sometimes there are cool gory special effects. I predict you would enjoy it. I think it must have been directly influenced by Forever Knight.
