You know what's really stupid? We find out later that they also reverse-engineered the aliens' energy shield technology...and put it on a truck instead of on their actual important bases.

@@adamdresch The fact we could just magically "reverse engineer" alien technology like that is nothing else but absurd. It has not been that long between the last war and we are already flying in space, using shields and alien guns (Around 20 years we did all this?). We would more likely still be trying to rebuild from the last invasion and not reverse engineering alien technology. The war from the first one would of wiped out most of the population by either the aliens themselves or the destruction to natural resources they did. Really was looking forward to this movie but its a D rated movie at best.

@@bobshanery5152 you not really right. They had no time to destroy natural resources since their attack was not nuclear neither radioactive. In the end instead,they left 27 destroyed ships on the earth's surface, all waiting to be srapped, so TONS of NEW materials instead. Also if you know such monsters exist,you would really hurry up to reverse engineer. Wich is much easier than invent. 20 years is definitely possible, under the appropriate conditions... lets say 1000 teams of scentist for each of the techonologies, would succed within that time. @@armorpro573 a: plot convenience (the likely answer) b: powering things is not free, especially not when you're powering something covering a 3000 mile wide space ship, and thus they would only power it when necessary, by this point not only are they probably close enough to earth to have been able to send scouts to determine if our tech rivaled theirs, which it still didn't, but they are also ripping apart the moon as they travel past it, and the moon is both earth's closest off-planet base but also clearly visible from earth, meaning that the people of earth are most likely fully aware that something is almost upon them by this point, making the cloaking tech fairly pointless (the more logical answer) especially when you consider that the whole point of their journey to earth is to harvest the core for energy, so they're not gonna waste energy on something if it isn't worth it

considering that the last blast they did didn't even make it through the ship's shields, i'm guessing the synchronised countdown was on the assumption that none of them would make it through if they fired individually, so they planned to all hit the same point at the same time to try and break through the shield... of course, that didn't work because the countdown was too slow, but if that's the logic then it was definitely a good idea

That Mothership felt more like a space station than an actual spaceship, because look at it, it's freaking massive. Edit: Sure, the Harvester ships in the first movie are massive, but at least they limit their size as the Colony Mothership was designed to hold millions of civilizations, while City Destroyers were designed as warships. But this ship in the second movie was designed to be way bigger, but it was nothing than a harvesting ship when they could've made the vessel the size of a Colony Mothership or portrayed it like a galactic space station designed to hold multiple civilizations and multiple reproductive castes on board.

It's not even a station, that thing is an artificial planet. Given that we only live on the surface of Earth and aliens are throughout that colossal thing, they've probably got a population magnitudes more than our planet. But the difference between a station and a ship is just the ability to move. It can move, so it's a ship. It actually pisses me off that the reason for their wanting Earth's core was "fuel" when there was a far better and far more terrifying solution: they wanted Earth's metal rich core because they use cores to make these ships. Given how many planets they've destroyed, that would mean they've got an incomprehensible number of these planet-size ships. And given that, unlike most sci fi that's restricted to one galaxy, these are repeatedly said to be a UNIVERSE spanning empire, that would fit. It's the Matrix "human batteries" shit all over again.

First by scratching with their shield the Moon that will be displaced from orbit in opposite direction, maybe toward Earth since ship came from outer Moon orbit tangently? Second on landing such a mass on Earth also perturbed Earth allot around its axis , rotation around axis, inclination, and general orbit around Sun (either sending it closer to Sun or further away Kaput clima for life in hours!). Third that atmospheric burn is at least equivalent to an Yelowstone eruption if not more so again Nuclear winter 1000years...

That ship is a ship, meaning it's 90-95% empty space by volume. If you were to compress that down into a solid mass it may be the size of a 20 mile wide sphere. It in no way has more mass than the moon, which is a SOLID rock. If you made the moon 90% empty space by volume it would be many times larger than Earth. Actually there is sound in space, it's more accurate to say *human ears* don't work in a vacuum. Sound is just vibration, which is created by kinetic energy which can travel through space (otherwise rocket engines wouldn't be able to generate thrust).

no but like if they had just put a shield on the moon base but shows how the alien used multiple laser cannons at once and then the orbital defense system managed to fire but it did nothing, that would be more realistic and gives off like a sense of hopelessness

Inertia? and in space, Sir Isaac Newton is god? Depending on how much forward thrust that ship's creating, it'd be hard to push yourself 'up' from the floor of it, even if that floor is the ramp. Granted, magical gravity fields lets the people in the cockpit area walk around like nothing... but chalk that up to either the field not extending to the ramp... or just movie-magic :P
@TemplarX2
@TemplarX2 2 жыл бұрын
@@Gwydion_Wolf Inertia? do you know how inertia works? The ship isn't accelerating upward but moving more or less in a horizontal plane with a constant velocity (hence no acceleration). That guy should be able to push himself upward with one finger on the moon. Inertia is not significant for such a small body.
