John sings at a surprise intimate show in Los Angeles. This is from the Continuum album.

This is the most human version of this song, just him and his guitar. It’s a humble version, a version of him in a bar just doing what he loves. It’s so raw seeing him mess up but it adds to the atmosphere.

you can hear his voice fading here. get well soon john. I(and the world) need you to continue making amazing music.

love that he doesn't even have to play the riff at all and it still sounds good. :10-:14 seconds.

Mostly, I just drink in the ambiance and the music when I go to a show, though if a musician friend wants me to film, I do. On this particular night, I happened to have a good video camera, he was so close by, and I know a lot of people would enjoy seeing this rare show. It was unforgettable night, and I can enjoy the show and hold a camera at the same time.

I did, and he was so nice, and very patient when my flash didn't go off. People have said bad things about him, but based on my experience meeting him, I love him ten times more now. :)

30 Likes as opposed to 0 Dislikes over 3,800 views; (I know I probably jinxed it now haha,) Just goes to show how good JM is. Talent won't be contested especially when presented in great quality! Thanks again @violetskyye! I live 40 minutes from L.A., I need to start going to the Hotel Cafe; JM is my favorite and I was literally just talking to my cousin how I've seen him live but only at huge venues like Staples when hes shredding which I love!; but now I wanna see the throwback acoustic John.

Is it just me or isn´t the most important thing just to listen, enjoy, drink your whiskey and feel privileged cause John Mayer is playing and making your night special? What's it with people wanting to record everything always? It seems to me that nowadays the important thing is to be seen and to post everything on the internet. I am not complaining about the guy with a camera filming the whole night, I am complaining about comments like: 'I would beat myself up if I didn't have a camera'.

@foxyfoxy06 No, John just popped in to try out a few songs for people who were already there. In fact, he wasn't even announced that night. Just walked in, took the stage and started playing. I happen to the be luckiest person around, since I was standing 4 feet from the stage.

@ASLint also check out his performance in pbs...no autotune there either...
@timijai2213 жыл бұрын
I sincerely hope that when John gets older, and of course he has about a 100 different studio records under his belt, and he just bothers playing live gigs, that he'll take the time to get a bunch of songs he's written that were never recorded and put out that record, 'cause that's gonna be the very good stuff - the stuff that is still a million times amazing, but never made the records.

John Mayer seems like he doesn't care about his fans anymore, don't get me wrong, it takes a lot for him to perform live in his off time, but he just doesn't seem interested anymore. Hopefully just a phase? I think 'born and raised' perfectly describes where he is in his life right now

@blok31092 I've wondered that before too haha. Most sources say Ernie Ball Slinky Acoustics. Don't quote me on it, but that's what I found.

This has got to be one of the most underrated songs of all time... Simply awesome, yet he is known for crap like 'daughters' and 'comfortable'

while I agree, I also think daughters and comfortable are amazing songs . equally great lyricism and guitar work

This is from Continuum. One of his better songs on that album actually. I do agree with you though that he lost his touch with that sorry excuse of a last album. I mean some of the songs are fine but it's like more of a commercial gimmick than a real album from the heart.

@ASLint13 жыл бұрын
His singing being bad has nothing to do with microphones, or styles, or anything other than himself. The vocal melody is really really high on the album recording. Most live performances of this song are pretty rough. The version on Live in LA has a ton of autotune and dubs. It's tough to sing, period.
