This is driving lesson #6 where I'm teaching my FIRST TIME learner driver little brother how to drive a manual car on PUBLIC ROADS so that he can pass his driving test! At this point, my brother has failed this theory test and hazard perception test 6 times... his UK practical driving test is in 4 lessons 😳 When do you think he'll pass his driving theory test? 👀

Problems. 1) His driving and attitude 2) His theory tests 3) Your instruction like most family memebers- Missing the small things like he's cutting corner turning in, wrong gear, clearance, indicating and mirrors you mentioned but also blind spot checks are needed. These lessons start good but then something like the roundabout incident happens and it spirals down. He needs a professional instructor like Aman. Right now he's just building bad habits that will take longer for them to undo.

Probably true. My dad taught me how to change first, second and third gear, reverse and to use the break Then he just drop me in a random crowded avenue in Mexico (Drivers are crazy as hell). The last thing i remember from that lessons are the yellings. Smh i managed to learn, but it was my worse week in the month.

Advice for his theory that helped me! It took me a few tries, revise every day (mock tests) for at least 2-3 weeks before even if it’s only for 15 mins. Depends how fast you complete them. And when it comes to the day of the test, don’t tell anyone! Takes so much pressure off you and it helps you to pass. I did that, I didn’t mention it and it made me more confident. Just advice! Thought it may be helpful!

Problem is the older brother is making him memorize, not understand. That signal, mirror, brake, clutch, look etc is way too complicated and brother is trying to make him memorize. Rather its simple, stop-check-move. I think he needs to go to a field and get the "feel" of controlling the car. For example, things like when and how to brake and clutch should come to him naturally. If he needs to turn right at a junction, he should not be thinking "signal, mirror, this, that, then something L". He should be thinking stop (or slow) & check (signal, cars and pedestrians). Currently he cannot even focus on the road because controlling the car is taking all his attention.

@@hssy2jrocker For driving tests, unfortunately you just have to memorize. Like I had to use signals for each turn in a 3 point turn on my test, that's absurd and no one does it in real life but you have to for testing purposes. Same with the exaggerated head movements. For driving I have an advice which worked for me. At first I was very scared to drive, because I knew I could mess up my gears, clutch and so on when I turn and it was diffucult to think about turns, gear change, signs, people on the street and so on. So my father took me to some offroads, where are no cars and he kept me doing same turns all over again around small village so I started to catch up on things faster and later with my instructor I was in control of the car, so I started to see signs, think about other important things and so on. Looking at your brother I see he is not in control of the car, so there is no wonder he makes serious mistakes. There are too many things in his head.

I passed second time but for my first id revised the morning off and got 40/43 for multiple choice, and 63/75 for hazard perception. If he’s taking 6 tries and not getting, he clearly doesn’t care, the problem is his not care attitude. You can’t help someone who doesn’t wanna help themselves.

1. He needs to first UNDERSTAND what a blind spot is...if he understands what a blind spot is, he would then always check his blind spot. It's incredibly dangerous if he doesn't check his blind spot when moving off. 2. For his roundabouts, if he's taking the 2nd exit, he should NOT signal right at approach. At approach, no signal should be used. As soon as he goes past the first exit, he NEEDS to indicate left to take the 2nd exit. You haven't taught him this... 3. If he's turning into a road, he shouldn't be doing it on 3rd gear...if he's slowing down, ensure he comes down a gear to 2nd gear, otherwise he risks stalling the car. Practice the basics first. Much improvement made.

He don't need to signal right if he's going first or second exit but he does need to signal left when exiting to let the car behind know. You should only signal right if your on the right lane taking the right exit aswell as push back to the left with a signal & mirror checks / shoulder checks.

You should defo teach him before every turn he makes 1. interior mirror 2.wing mirror(s) 3. over his shoulder 4. direction indicator 5. wing mirror 6. shoulder. That is the perfect way to look around before making a turn. For examinators it is very important to check your mirrors with every action you take, every time you give gass, break, shift, turn. almost not possible to check them to much for an examinator.

@@willowmikk3319 for my exam it was mandatory, I'm not from the UK so probably the rules in the UK are not that strict but over here it is just that you have to check your blind spot quickly for every turn, it takes less then a second. Guys I want to say that the problem with his steering isn't the method (push pull/feeding the wheel) it's his stiffness. Some of you are wanting him to go back to hand over hand but are forgetting that his steering was worse that way. In both methods, his hands are glued to be opposite each other (whether that's 9 to 3 for push pull or right hand is west of the wheel whilst left hand is east for crossing hands) which is unnatural for turns. If he relaxed those arms and pulled the wheel in one motion, rather than small adjustments when turning, his steering would likely look better.

I don’t mean he is doing badly, just don’t want him to fail his license test because of that.
