Adjustment for the emergency brake is @ 4:04. Adjust the single cable length to keep the tension even between the wheels. Notice all the slack on the two cable side ? That is wear and cable stretch.

75%? You must work somewhere that sells brakes. Those shoes are almost new.
@workonitm8
@workonitm8 Жыл бұрын
Bro, those brake shoes need to be adjusted with the drum IN PLACE ! Tighten the star wheel until you can no longer rotate the wheel, then back off just enough so the wheel turns free. (usually about 6 notches +/-- ) Do the other side and back off the same number of notches. (Check with your local auto parts and compare the thickness of your brake linings with the thickness of new linings.)

One thing I like about my 91 super duty is that it came from the factory with rotor brakes on the back. Planning on getting a replacement rear fuel tank for it. Kinda wondering if I can get a bronco fuel tank to fit. Plus you're definitely needing tires lol. I do as well. Have plenty of tread but dry rotted badly. I miss the sound of the old 7.3 idi I had with a banks sidewinder turbo kit on it. Have a great week.

Nice looking truck !!! Since everyone else has asked, where’s Wiley ?? And since everyone else has offered advice on how to improve YOUR truck, I will too, I have had several trucks like yours, the first best improvement I have found is to replace the drums with disk brakes. Then if all okay do drive test with brake pedal and emergency brake stops on light rolling stops and no rolling in gear foward also backwards when let off brake pedal but keep emergency brake and push gas see if feel not going anywhere you have set right completely stop too! If have brake pedal tight and emergency up top off Floor to and want click pedal 2 to 4 clicks on have it right! Like when on pavement with shoes or boot doing swing on walking! That how I taught in Auto Mechanics in high school and job to Hank :) and done 4 wheels drums on 1968 Chevrolet 5/8 ton is heavy duty 1/2 ton and 1972 Ford F350 I had years ago too !

Black 🖤 Betty is looking good. OK ‍those breaks have AUTO ADJUSTERS After the break shoes wear down some ... how to adjust Auto Adjusters is to go in reverse and clamp down on the breaks repeatedly. That action pulls the adjustment wheel to the proper setting. My most humblest apology I rewatched the video and absolutely agree you should have went through the breaks on your new Ford. Drum breaks are OK , is the price of a conversation kit to disk breaks that cheap ro just that much better? I learned how to drive when I was ten years old. Back then, my dad, taught me NEVER to use the emergency break in Alaska. He said there was so much ice and deep snow cables would freeze and NOT work or DID work and stick on leaving you stranded. Road salt was another factor. However, now days the Ebreak systems are much better designs.

Probably already been said, but I'm not scrolling through all the comments.... For whatever reason this era of Ford self adjusting drum brakes are junk. I was readjusting mine monthly or even biweekly depending how much I drove. What I liked to do was tighten until the wheel wouldn't spin, then back off 1/2 to 3/4 turn. Do your research on disc kits. Especially if you plan to tow at all. Also, the parking brake pedal assembly has a ratcheting mechanism inside. There's a tsb out there on it. But yours may need reset.
