The Kansas Jayhawks are National Champions after defeating the North Carolina Tar Heels last night 72-69. Kansas overcame a 15-point deficit at halftime, the largest in national championship history, to capture its first title since 2008. Meanwhile, North Carolina ran out of gas in the second half as they couldn't keep momentum rolling from their huge win over Duke in the Final Four. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe discuss whether Kansas won it or North Carolina blew it.

Kansas was getting to the rim almost at will and couldn't seem to make a layup. they were clanking them. Once Self calmed them down, the defense ramped up and they started converting and flipped in a hurry. they were just a better team. Full marks to UNC though. especially with having 2 guys ultimately out their by midway into the second half playing on rolled ankles.

In addressing the question of whether KU made a historic comeback or UNC gave it way, the argument made was essentially, "North Carolina gave it away because of the pressure KU put of them." Does anybody else notice how stupid that statement is? He's saying North Carolina gave it away because of something Kansas did. Meaning that it was the play of Kansas that affected winning. K did 40 years at Duke and won 5. Between them was a lot of underperforming. what I feel like people don't get is how hard it is to win a national title. the hardest job in ALL of sports. then after you win one, you're almost guaranteed to never win a second one. unless you're the absolute cream of the crop. UNC didn’t fold, Kansas should have been up in the first half but we went 4-14 from freakin layups most pretty much open uncontested looks and we didn’t guard anybody at all. We hit the shots we should have hit and picked it up on Defense. Kansas’ defense has been stellar all year and now that we put the clamps down in the 2nd half and turn up the pressure that is UNC folding?? What disrespect for all these young men on both sides. I’m beyond proud of how UNC battled, they got no easy looks in the 2nd half, and Kansas clawed back to make it a game with 10 minutes to go, then it was a back and forth game. Kansas outplayed UNC but it has nothing to do with UNC just collapsing, that’s just great defense doing what it’s supposed to.

What no one seems to get about offensive rebounds is that you must miss a shot in order to get one. UNC had more offensive rebounds in the second half than the first despite being outscored by 18 points. When you shoot 27% that is almost 3 misses with each make. This means you could have possessions where you get 2 o-rebounds, miss 3 shots, and you don't score. Looks good on the stat sheet, but does not help you win. True stat: Kansas had 6 more made shots that (1 more 3 for +13) and UNC made 10 more free throws all this despite the 24-8 UNC offensive rebound advantage.

I love Undisputed, but this is the first segment about college basketball probably all season. Take a break from the regularly scheduled programming of LeBron, the Lakers, Tom Brady and the Cowboys and cover more college basketball stories and other topics in the NBA.

First off, I'm so proud of this team. Seeing them fight and claw their way back in this game was something super special to witness. I'm so glad to call myself a fan the past 20 some years. Noone deserved it more than this team. This was just....so special. Now as a KU fan, I don't agree with everything Skip said because he's wrong on most things, but I do somewhat agree that whenever the NCAA tournament came around, we definitely were not intense or tough enough. Thinking about this objectively, we were able to win the Big12 conference and tournaments sometimes, but we never brought that same intensity to the tournament games. How many 1 seeds have we had and ultimately, fell short of the elite 8, final four, and championship game? We've had multiple banner winning teams that just got outplayed by lesser teams. I love KU as much as the next fan, but I'm also a realist when it comes to how our performance was lackluster in many NCAA games. For instance, we've had 6 number 1 seeds since 2008 championship (not counting the one this year). 2010- Lost in Round of 32 to Northern Iowa (still stings) 2011- Lost in elite 8 to VCU 2013- Lost in sweet sixteen to Michigan (this one hurts so much more because we had the win in our pockets) 2016- #1 seed overall, lost to Villanova in Elite 8 2017- Lost to Oregon in Elite 8 2018- Lost to Villanova again in the Final Four To say that in the past 13 years, we've managed to only reach the championship game twice (counting this year) with the crazy stacked teams we've had should be embarrassing to a lot of people. Even when we've been #2 and lower, we're not playing the same basketball we played in the Big12. I know that the tournament is a long, drawn out few weeks and takes a toll on the players and coaches, but to say we lacked intensity and/or physicality is not wrong. But I digress. I welcome anybody who disagrees or agrees, but this is just my two cents. I think it's very valid to say we've lacked physicality and intensity when it comes to the NCAA tournament (KU always brings the best it seems in the BIG12 conference and tournament most of the time just to clarify).

Just think about this bill self has been learning from his mistakes I think we are gonna see a serious shift in Kansas this next season bill self is gonna realize that building a team that feels like family on and off the court is what creates the most success the 2008 natty the 2012 natty although we lost it’s only because Anthony Davis was a monster. the 2020 team who would of walked blindfolded in to the national championship and ate the other team alive and this team they all had one thing in common they were family they were experienced and had a different level of confidence than everyone else

Full disclosure. I have been a Kansas fan since I went there to grad school back in 1994. I married a woman born in Wichita. Definitely have a bias in favor of the Jayhawks, but I try to stay objective. North Carolina kicked our butts in the first half. So much so that I went to bed. Lol. I woke up and was shocked when I checked my phone with about 3 minutes left in the game and KU was on top by four. I watched the rest of the game and was delighted with the outcome. Hubert Davis is a class act. (Can't say I feel that way about Roy Williams, but that's another story for another day). Felt bad for the Bacott kid. If he doesn't tweak his ankle at the end of the game, North Carolina still might have won. With all that said, Shannon's commentary wore me out. He said he did not want to take anything away from Kansas, and then proceeded to time and time and time again. Look, fact is KU kick North Carolina's rear end harder in the second half than they kicked ours in the first half. KU played well enough in the second half to deserve to win that game. Totally get that it was a heartbreaker for North Carolina and its fans. But in my humble opinion the better team won the game. The Tar Heels will undoubtedly be back. If the Lord tarries. Better read your Bible folks. Biblical prophecy is converging and being fulfilled in an unprecedented way, and Jesus Christ is coming back soon. Better trust in Him for your forgiveness and salvation from the coming wrath while you still have time and the door to heaven is still open. Let the one who has an ear to hear, hear.

Anyway you want to break it down , KU comes out, never think they can’t make it!! Closer it gets faster they come out and handle the ball!! This game will be in final four history!! They went in second half for coach Bill!! Which was sad since coach lost his Dad in January!! We LOVE OUR JAYHAWKS 🔴🔵 Plus it was great to see Danny Manning there!!

I hate how everyone starts off saying "I don't want to take anything away from KU" then bring up every excuse about how the Heels gave the game away. KU was in control of the first half until McCormack went out with 2 fouls, then the Jayhawks choked because Braun and Wilson were missing open lay-ups right at the basket. The same thing happened at Miami when McCormack got in foul trouble and had to sit out the rest of the first half.
