My favorite Kate line is in Lion in Winter (there are so many brilliant ones). After a magnificent, raging, vulgar row with O’Toole that sends him roaring from the room, she lifts her head from the straw strewn castle floor, pats her hair, and says, “What family doesn’t have it’s up and downs?” 😂

The money doesn’t want to create the same environment anymore. There are standards, or there used to be. High-up interests no longer care to hold those standards tight by investing in them. The entertainment industry has been turned into a flashy circus sideshow, totally devolved, by those with the power to have made and kept it something of great quality instead.

@@dntskdnttll You have your finger on the truth. Many of us bemoan the loss of standards that is indicative of the past two decades in particular. You spoke about a "flashy circus sideshow." I think of the new low as a "trashy freak wrestling match."

@@PolGara0139 People sometimes tell me that we've always had trashy television and to some extent there is some truth in that. But alongside the trashy tv of years ago (any situation comedy from my childhood) there were programs of superior quality. Besides the "chewing gum for the eyes" we also had programs that held up a higher standard. I saw the movie "Lady Bird" yesterday and as the movie ended (credits rolling) I realized I had been moved by a good story and by the principal characters who demonstrated that human beings can be real and lovely in an imperfect world.

I absolutely love this woman! She is literally my GREATEST hero, she didn’t take any crap from anybody, especially during a time when women were treated subservient to men, she wouldn’t have any of it and told them what they could go do with themselves, do you have any idea how much courage it took to do that in a time when most women Were totally ignored and treated like garbage? The qualities I admire most in anybody is honesty and integrity, those two words sum up her personality perfectly. She didn’t pull any punches (although I’ll bet she swung a few at sexist directors and actors), she was never phony, never afraid to speak her mind, and lived life on her terms, and to hell with the rest of the world! I absolutely admire and love that characteristic, it’s rare to find in a man, much less a woman of that era. Things are different now, at least a little bit, but back when Kate first started out, it was unheard of. They didn’t know what to do with her because they were so intimidated by her commanding presence and incredible talent. Even though she’s not here in the physical world anymore, in my eyes she will never die, because she has left behind a golden legacy that will live forever in the annals of history! My dearest Kate, although I was never honoured to meet you in person, I feel like I’ve known you personally all my life, because I have watched every single thing you have ever done, and will forever remain in bewildered awe of the incredible talent, strength, courage, tenacity, integrity, and unflinching willpower to live your life the way you wanted, never giving in to the pressure of society. If only we could all be like you, the world would be a much better place. Sending you all my love ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for posting this. It was so emotional and brought tears to my eyes , but out of all of her master scenes with Tracy why did they chose his legendary heart wrenching final scene in the tribute, a scene from a movie she could never bring herself to watch ever ,stating many times how it was so painful for her to bear, it was heart breaking, watching that pained expression and the tears welling in her eyes with a sorrowful trembling mouth it broke my heart. Such a formidable and incredibly delicate woman, she was so overcome with emotions that she could barely stand. It was obvious after all those years she could never bring herself to move on from his death, it was a living wound deeply set in her heart, and was not to be touched .Maybe they did it thinking she would love it, or maybe they knew how emotional she would get watching it . I love her and respect her more than words can describe, may her soul rest in peace and had the happiness and satisfaction she deserves.

On the other hand, it may be that she meant that the man she loved, Tracy, was married and could not divorce so therefore it was her lot to be unmarried and childless.
