I feel so badly for this man. He seems like such a sweetheart. It's hard to watch a grown man cry. She had the best life because of her parents. Even though her life may have been short, it sounds like she had an amazing life. I hope for hthis dad he gets his wish. Wish I could take the family's pain away. Just devastating. I think it was very courageous and brave of him to speak to the media. He's absolutely right telling her story is helpful because then we can hear about who she was. Her memory lives on.

Also don't forget (happened on 20th April in North Carolina) a father and daughter badly wounded after being gunned at by their neighbour. The daughter and some kids (maybe siblings?) were playing basketball in the yard, when their ball rolled over into the neighbour's yard. This evil freak came out to gun the daughter and the kids, dad saw and tried to draw gunfire to himself. He's the worst injured but the girl took bullet fragments to the face, according to reports I've seen.

Kevin Monahan was upset that people were using his driveway to turn around, he was upset at people mistakenly coming on to his property, so on this occasion his shot a car, killing Kaylin Gillis. He was upset at people coming on to "his property". Well now not only has he lost "his property" but he lost his freedom, the pathetic man. May he know only suffering from now until his death.

He’s one of those crazy guys with signs saying he’ll prosecute you and it’s his property. He’s happy he shot her because to him it was justified and teaching them a lesson. Police say he was uncooperative and has no remorse. Teach kids to stay away from these creepy isolated homes that house psychopaths.

This insanity must stop. A teenager knocks at someone's door and gets shot, in the head first and then in the arm. Here, a teenager gets shot for simply turning into a wrong driveway?!?!? What's next? Getting shot because someone doesn't like the color of your tie? Or someone's lipstick? And their argument in Court is because someone was near their house, they became scared, so they shot the person?

There is nothing we can say to help this father feel better, but what we can do is make sure the monster who shot his daughter never sees the light of day again. We owe it to him and the rest of the families out there, let justice be done upon these criminals. Truly enough is enough, if anyone murders the innocent their life should be forfeit. This is the way it should be and the way it needs to be.

We're not seeing any Republicans rushing to defend the action of the accused in this case. These borderline deranged people are now going from honest defense of the home to shooting at anything on their property. And it's described as a "rural" area, so how much potential crime is there for a homeowner to be afraid of? This guy better just plead mental illness and throw himself on the mercy of the court. And he should draw a long sentence in the psych ward of a prison, as opposed to a "mental health" institution. As for Elise Stefanik, she needs to be turned out of office. Where is this town in upstate NY? I live between Rochester and Buffalo, but I've never heard of it. (Glens Falls area on the Vermont border; I found it. Thanks.)

My heart breaks for Kaylin's family. Their lives are forever changed and they will grieve forever. I know this because my brother was murdered at age 20, and there was never justice served. I just learned about Kaylin Gillis’ murder from Erin Burnett “Out Front” and I’m not recognizing my country anymore. A baby faced harmless 16 year old kid Ralph gets shot in Missouri for accidentally knocking on the door of an 84 year old man when the kid was just trying to pick up his siblings. A 20 year old young lady gets murdered just because she was utilizing someone’s driveway to turn the vehicle around whilst they were lost on the backroads of upstate New York. Both of those shootings are unforgivable and I have no sympathy for the 84 year old man nor Kaylin Gillis’ murderer. My sincere condolences to Mr Gillis and his family. Rest In Peace Kaylin rest easy. Our country in a bad way.

Stand your ground or not he would be prosecuted. Stand your ground covers the use of deadly force when being physically confronted or threatened with bodily hard to yourself or others, not when cars are turning around in your driveway and going the opposite way.

Did the shooter send ””thoughts and prayers” after the fact or is he just happy that he got to excercise his 2nd Anendment rights? Maybe both? Poor father and others touched by her senseless death! RIP

The father was so measured in his words. God knows if he said anything derogative about guns he would be immediately inundated with threats by people like the murderer.
