Crying my eyes out thinking about his dad having cancer and deciding on continuing treatment when he wrote this. My dad had cancer and Covid-19 for a while too recently but survived it and is good so far. I was a little girl when this song was out and of course, I thought it was the typical love song to a girlfriend or a general encouraging song to the general public. Whenever I hear the song now, I think about him and his dad, I can't help but cry. BTW you're beautiful and I love your honest reaction and can tell u really never head it.

Kenny Loggins did a beautiful due called "Love Will Follow" with Shanice, the singer who did the 90's hit "I Love Your Smile." It was from the "Outside From The Redwoods" concert. It's sort of a smooth jazz thing and heir voices match perfectly together.

Jim Messina was the perfect partner for Kenny Loggins, when loggins was young and trying to find his place in music. Messina was already a professional producer, and a veteran of two fantastic bands; Buffalo Springfield and Poco, when he was asked to produce for Loggins, and ended up both producing and partnering with him for an excellent string of hit songs in the 70s. I'd recommend House at Pooh Corner, or Danny's Song, or if you're in the mood for some toe-tappin' fun, Your Mama Don't Dance.
