But also, to prolong the life of the taser, there is an extra step on my instructables page, so here is the link,

Advice on your soldering technique: use a flat tip on your 'iron' when soldering to a piece of metal larger than that found on a circuit board, like the electrical contact on the micro switch. Also heat the bottom side (flat) of the contact metal, then apply the solder from the opposite side (a bit of liquid flux applied to the contact before touching the iron would be helpful, even if your solder is 'eutectic' and rosin core). Allow the solder to melt and flow to the iron on the other side. The desired amount of solder will not form a ball, only a thin skin on the contact surface then a slightly thicker 'blob-ette where the wire joins the contact. Less (solder) is more (a better) connection.

Just to answer a few questions about the 400KV boost modules: I've personally bought these a couple times, theyr fun. I even disected one that i acidently killed. First, they actually put out about 30kV Max. You can calculate this by the spark distance. Second, they have a single transistor driving a boost transformer folowed by a voltage multiplier 3x i think, my transistor was labled C3746, a NPN rated 6A 100MHz. The secondary seams to be electrically isolated from the primary. There are 3 HV caps wired in series with a bleader resistor across the whole thing. Thats good for most ppl since they will discharge themselves when not in use to be safer. Now for the info on how easy it is to kill these things: The main HV caps are severly under rated for the job they have to do. Any atemp to let this thing run WITHOUT discharging before the voltage climbs too high WILL damage / destroy the caps, killing the unit. These units are basically built skeliton style, but then encased in epoxy, no actual circuit board in them. Letting them run too long can over heat the internal components and damage them. I would think the most heat sensitive parts would be the transformer windings, the transistor, or the voltage multiplier diodes. Now if your nice to these units, they will give you lots of fun, dont try and bring the leads too far away to get the biggest spark you can, let them spark before the voltage climbs too high, and dont run them too long at a clip. I'd keep the spark about an inch or shorter and the duty cycle under 50%

Instead of buying a boost converter. Most hobbyists use a relay set as a buzzer. Take the EMP from the coil then through a capacitor/resistor lattice to boost the pulse into the crazy voltages you need.. Others use a flyback transformer from a CFL bulb.

I suppose if you wanted to make it a little more reliable, you could add a recessed slide switch to act as a safety, then enclose the battery in some kind of housing and leave it attached. That battery could get knocked loose pretty easily in a scuffle in its present state.

Does the "Power Converter" that you used in the video also have an input of 3v-6v like the one in your link? I was wondering if a 9v battery would burn out the 3v-6v converter.. Also, did you measure to see what the final output was in terms of voltage and amperage (mA)? I know the converter *says* 400,000v but that's contingent on the input.. If you research stun guns you'll see a lot of conflicting information. They're marketed mostly by advertising the voltage strength, but then supposedly 30,000v is the maximum voltage that can jump across contacts spaced 1cm apart because of "physics" or whatever. Some sources say that its true strength is the microcoulombs: µC, or "charge", other sources say it's the mA, or "current": Below 1 mA Not perceptible 1 mA Threshold of feeling, tingling 5 mA Slight shock. Not painful. The average individual can let go. Involuntary reaction can lead to indirect injuries 6-25 mA (women) Painful shocks. There is a loss of muscle control 9 to 30 mA (men) Freezing current, "can't let go". The person may be thrown away from the power source. An individual cannot let go. The active involuntary reaction can lead to unintentional injuries. 50 to 150 mA Extreme pain. Respiratory arrest. Muscles reactions. Possible Death. 1 to 4.3 A There is fibrillation of the heart. Muscular contraction and nerve damage occur. Likely death. 10 A Cardiac arrest, severe burns. Death is probable So I'm curious to see how this measure up to the real thing

Just found the answer to this while looking online and found this while asking the question, could this be used as a stun gun. - Yes it could, but it would be weaker then a low cost stun gun. A generic stun gun is generally powered by a 9v battery, and produces around 1 million volts, these units produce around 15-40kv. At that output, you are more likely to just annoy the person then to hurt them.

The ones on ebay say they are rated up to ~7VDC, but you showed it working with 9v. Do they burn out with 9v, or is it still working ok? What do you think the actual maximum input voltage is?
@KeystoneScience
@KeystoneScience 7 жыл бұрын
+Matthew Foran hmm, it most sly depends on the gap across the top, I made a remake of this video explaining that, bust as long as the voltage doesn't have to build up too high, it should be fine at 9v. The maximum voltage besides that would be based on the oscillator at the beginning. I'm not quite sure what components it uses, but probably don't go too much higher than 9v

you think could turn this into a taste glove? couldn't I move the switch to the index finger and the two taser wires to the middle and index finger? of course for that part I'd need to make the taser cords longer. any ideas? I would also have the rest of the parts on the back of the glove.
@KeystoneScience
@KeystoneScience 7 жыл бұрын
+Eddie Shannon yes! I actually have a video of a taser glove ( like I made it months ago ) but it was using a bit different materials, I And I have tried making a taser glove from that boost converter and then I gave that video to someone else to post on their channel, their channel name was the Kurdish inventor I think, but they are in my subscriptions, so if you go to my channel then go to my subscriptions and click on his channel you will see that video :D

I have bought one too, is it Good to power it with 9V? Because it ist Named with 3-6 Volts.
@KeystoneScience
@KeystoneScience 7 жыл бұрын
+yanmatz11 yeah mine also is 3-6v, but the 9v works fine, that is just don't separate the 2 wires too far apart, and don't run it for a super long time at once... If you look in my instructables linked in the description, I later used Brad nails as the terminals for the arc, and I've used that for months and it hasn't broken yet xD
