@@veliking3175 To be fair, I think hawker culture or street food is a universal thing. It's anywhere around the world. And East Asia has its own regional distinctive street food/hawker style of food. Singapore just happened to take all the street hawkers in the 1970s and resettled them in government-managed "hawker centres".

Yes! You have pronounced "Ayam Goreng" correctly, and perfectly. "Ayam" mean Chicken in Malay language and "Goreng" is fry/fried.

In indonesia we have traditional chicken dish called ayam geprek. Its very famous in Singapore and Malaysia too. Smash chicken with spicy sambal on top and side dish such fried tempe, tofu and fresh veggies.

I don't have it often but when I do I always add chilli powder to Taiwanese fried chicken. As for the ayam goreng, the darker tone could be the curry powder they use as a coating. Also, the coating is usually less wet (not really a batter) so they get darker even if they're deep fried in the same amount of time as other kinds of fried chicken. Don't know if mamak offers ayam goreng rempah but that's much more delicious imho.

The ayam goreng u tried are more of malaysian, in indonesia we always have "ayam goreng serundeng" the lighter in color is fresher one, and the darker one is recook one with drier texture.

I'm coeliac... so I am always so jealous of people that can order fried chicken... BUT, in Australia, there are a lot of Asian restaurants that now offer gluten-free fried chicken, which I think is totally awesome. Every time I go back home, I go on a gluten-free eating bonanza... and eat some of the Chinese foods that I can't eat in China because gluten-free options aren't that widely available here... So, yeah, I definitely return to China each time with a little food baby growing in my after each trip back home!

The challenge should have added how good it tastes reheated. Kfc used to have the instructions on their packaging. Ie 150 degrees celcius for 13 to 15 minutes.

Say what!!! reheated KFC better than fresh?? hell no, although if you're reheating in a Air fryer it's pretty good. My left over KFC go to is pretty much that KFC hack put it in the rice cooker when I'm cooking rice.

I think a microwave taste test the next day would've been a great criterion to add to the list. The cold Taiwanese fried chicken has the same rubbery texture that you get from one of those frozen TV dinners, lol.

I always shredded my overnight fried chicken,mix in salad, avocado, shredded green apple, crush roasted peanuts, dress it with fish sauce, lime juice, palm sugar, chilli, crushed garlic, shrimp paste...I could eat a mountain of that.
