Hi Tony. I think the Elu PS274 is the BEST 8.5" mitre saw ever made!!. 😎 And I'm actually thinking of doing a video about it. As you rightly say, back in our early carpentry careers, Elu was the best you could get. I'm not sure many of todays machines would still be cutting as perfectly after 27 years of site use. 🤪 Thanks for watching and your comment.👍

Did that curved piece of trim on the curved cabinet come that way or did you fabricate it? If it came that way, what is the material? If you fabricated it, how did you do it? I liked how you scored your trim piece first before you cut it. I recently did some crown and other trim that was popular with formica laminate over it and even with a recently sharpened fine tooth blade, it still had a minor amount of tear out. I didn't watch part 1-3 yet and I will do so when I have some time (probably when I am dead, then I will have plenty of time...haha) Good job.
@thetallcarpenter3 жыл бұрын
Hi Karl. The curved pelmet/lighting baffle is pre-made from mdf. It is sent to site over length for trimming on site, which has its own challenges.😝. Appreciate your comment and you watching my videos.👍 Cheers.

Great channel mate , do you think hollow wall anchors are strong enough to hold a wall cabinet if no studs in wall ? What do you suggest for plasterboard.
@thetallcarpenter3 жыл бұрын
Hi there. I wouldn't use hollow wall anchors of any type to fit wall units to plasterboard. There must be some structure to the wall, (studs), and I would fix a length of batten to this structure above the wall units, (at the back edge out of sight), and then fix down into the sides of the units using suitable screws and angle brackets.👍

This sounds like my walls. They’re nearly all built from just 3 layers of plasterboard, 2x15mm with a 40mm piece in the middle. In the kitchen they laminated in some chipboard to screw the units to.

That's great but you didn't actually show us how you fixed them onto the units!

@flyingjackcarpentry93943 жыл бұрын
I'm fitting a wickes kitchen atm and its been a nightmare. The 1000mm wall units sag in the middle and throw the doors off with the cornice and pelmet. There's only the hardboard behind and maybe im just being lazy but putting any kind of back bracing in means dismantling too much and basically starting the run of wu and larder units again, which took ages in the first place as the plasterer is a shitbag and must have been drunk when he bonded out the wall.
