Knowing how to use lifelines in your knitting is always going to be a valuable skill to have, as it can save you hours of stress, tinking, frogging, trying to work your pattern backwards, and in some cases can save your whole knitting project.
Sometimes, you forgot to add a lifeline as you go, or your pattern isn't particularly intricate but you just want a quick way to pull back a few rows and pick straight up where you left off. That's where an afterthought lifeline comes in.
In this video I will show you how to place an afterthought lifeline in a garter stitch swatch, so you can save yourself time and energy when you have to pull rows back in your next project!

Thanks so much for posting this! I like how you explained how and why you were doing certain things in order to get this to work. I'm hoping to apply this to a pretty bad mistake I made while knitting in the round. While the pattern is a bit different, I figure it wouldn't hurt to try. I'm a beginner and your video was straightforward enough for me to follow along. I like that you repeated the picking up action and showed why it looked right.

Thank you!! I'm a newbie knitter and most of the time I just let my mistakes go, but I had a very glaring one annoying me and thought I'd ruined the whole thing. This was super easy follow compared to other tutorials and I was able to go back 8 rows down to fix it

Thank you so much! I’m having trouble locating my first loop because I used a slip first and purl last method to make my edges look nice, but I was having trouble figuring out which loop to pick up first. Very helpful.

Thanks for this video! The part that's stumping me a bit is that in the pattern I'm working with, I've slipped the first stitch of every row purlwise with the yarn in front, and it's making me confused as to how to start and finish the lifeline.

You know what? You’re never gonna please everyone and those that complain or say they don’t like it can move on. Nobody is forcing them to watch are they? I for one found it very helpful and you’re very bubbly and nice. Keep up the good work.
