Ingredients
Kodo millet-1 cup
Curd-1 cup
Pomegranate seeds-half cup
Grated carrot-half cup
Seasoning-
Sesame oil---1Tbsp
Mustard- half tsp
Urad daal- half tsp
Chana daal- half tsp
Ginger pieces-half teaspoon
Green chilli- one
Salt to taste
This Tamil Nadu's, Varagu Arisi in English is known as kodo millet

A simple yet amazingly explained recipe with importance to health benefits. Introducing millets to children at early age is thoughtful one as we were also introduced to rice at our early age we are unable to let go of the practice even today.

Good morning maam very health recipe i love to eat curd rice but in this form is new for me..and i try sure its very healthy kudu millet rice..mull is right...👌🏻😋👍

Thanks Azam Azu. Yes, millets are more nutritious than white polished rice. Unpolished brown rice is a healthier option to white rice which is stripped of all nutrients. Millets are rich in fibre,and other micronutrients too!

It’s a great idea to make millets a regular ingredient in every child’s diet Akka . Given the fact that unhealthy foods are excessively advertised, parents must make a conscious effort to make millets into a regularity ! Also I recently came across an article about how 68% of milk and milk related products are adulterated in India with chemicals like palmitic acid, vanaspathi, salts and glucose . So preparing curd at home from A2 milk ( as much as possible ) instead of using packaged curd should also be stressed upon !!

Completely agree Mrinalini. Yes, sourcing milk from a reliable source has become challenging!!! Presently sourcing milk from a local milkman!!

Thanks Poornima. As of now, I make chapati with fifty percent millet flour and fifty percent wheat flour!!! Have been wanting to try with 100 percent millet flour. For cooking like rice, or making idli,dosa I soak. While using flour for roti,cannot soak. Soaking time about one hour,is what I practice. Regards Sujata from Munch and Mull

I understand that we should soak the millets for at least 6 hrs, if so then how much water should we keep

I soak millets,if i am grinding for Idli or dosa. Otherwise i use it as it is or sometimes roast it ,if making pulav etc Regards Sujata from Munch and Mull

I left my soaked millet in d fridge for about 5 or 6 days. Can i still use d millet? By d way it is white millet. I have send you an email. Could you kindly check. Tq..

Is kodo millet same as varai or bhagar in Marathi....
