If Mike Bickle had chosen honesty instead of manipulation, we wouldn't be having this conversation. I am disgusted how he manipulated these women with praying a repentance prayer and then continues SA. He was guilting them and keeping them bound in shame, to control them. I wish Kris Vallaton would have spoke up for the victims. They had to be pained by his insensitivity. Keeping speaking you two! 🎉❤😮

I was at IHOPKC for 7 years. What I’m saying is that it WASN’T a church. It was a 501c3 set up like a cult with one unaccountable leader at the top. There were no mechanisms for reporting abuse or misconduct against Mike. There were no people ABOVE Mike; no could sound the alarm. There was no opportunity to exercise accountability or to participate in any type of democratic governance. The whole thing was just an extension of Mike’s pathology. Maybe you’re talking about MCF? I’m sure it was similar there.

You two are nailing it! I appreciate you both so much for everything you are doing. Yes, we can’t be ‘nice’ about abuses in the church. We need to wrestle this ‘crime’ to the ground and not let go until God’s standard is put in place for the body of Christ. No more good ol’ boy practices will be tolerated for the Mike Bickle’s, Brian Houston’s, Jimmy Swaggert’s, Jim Bakker’s, Bill Hybel’s-mega-church variety. God wants to clean up this mess. But He exhorts us to be hands on and warns us against tolerating these abuses. Most of us didn’t know these things were taking place until Fall of 2023. But now we do. God pulled back the sheets so we can see the immorality. He’s now providing details. So, we are called to demand justice for all who have been abused. Otherwise, this sin will continue to grow and permeate more churches. More women and children will be abused, if we don’t collectively discipline these prolific abusers. You two are awesome! God is using you because He trusts you. Thank you again!! 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼

Churches who have had a connection with IHOP (and Bethel certainly has) definitely need to make a statement of where they stand in this abuse case. The fact that Kris Valaton felt he owed no statement,in my opinion, shows incredibly poor leadership. I’m glad he apologized for what he said but it is eye opening and shocking how many major church leaders or ministery leaders are handling this situation so badly. I appreciate you both for bringing common sense and accountability to some of these church leaders and am thankful for the men on the advocate team❤

Here in Scandinavia people are also upset over the videos with Fransis Chan condemning all people that has had questions regarding MB. As a grandmother that never could listen to MB (he made my stomach turn but I never new why), I would have been soooo disturbed and questioned my own judgment if I had heard the condemnation from Chan. He was telling people that something was serios wrong with you if you felt unrest about MB, because the spirit of God rested on him. All this men (from Ihope, Bethel and so) has been in Norway and many other European countries many time. But I think people here, also the older, are quicker to acknowledge when something is proven totally wrong. And people in Europe and Scandinavia are watching what all this leaders that use to come here is saying, and what they are not saying.

Culture of Honor is a great book. It doesn’t talk about “don’t touch the Lords annointed.” It’s not about covering the sin of others. It’s actually about good boundaries and healthy conflict. It has never been about covering someone’s sin. People have been using the phrase “honor culture” to describe this but they are using the term wrong…

I so appreciate your unpacking of what's happening with IHOPKC. The people in my world these days don't even know who Mike Bickle is so I don't have anyone to process with. I've been a part of the leadership at mega churches at different points in my life. Now I'm living in a remote area (Saskatchewan, Canada) on a small farm with my five kids. The church we've found here is so much healthier than any I've known. It's a body of believers not the kingdom mindset that subscribes to the Old Testament idea of not touching God's anointed. As someone who has walked with victims of CSA, that mindset is one that I can not support. Thank you for continuing to speak.

at 28:00 - "That's what I want to try to understand, is the 'Don't touch God's anointed one'. Where did this come from? Why or where did the 'honor culture' come from, to where we can't . . . ." There is a real problem with the whole "anointed one" paradigm, as it is used today. The scripture from which "touch not God's anointed" is drawn was also 1 Chronicles 16:22, a warning to pagans not to oppress God's covenant people in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, "THE anointed One" is Jesus Christ, and EVERY believer is anointed with the Holy Spirit. These people setting themselves up as "anointed ones" are doing so to establish and grow their own empires - and to protect themselves from accountability. In so doing, they actually command their followers to DISOBEY the scriptures, which command us to test every spirit, every prophecy, and to confront a brother who is in error. This is culty behavior. Run, do not walk, to the nearest exit.
@faithworks217
@faithworks217 5 ай бұрын
Even if a person is a leader, even if they are heavily anointed, if they teach error or practice sin, they need to be corrected. When Moses' sister and brother gave him a hard time about his Ethiopian wife, it wasn't because it was wrong of him to have married her. She was actually his first wife, a royal princess, whom he married before he fell out of favour with the Egyptians and had to run for his life. They were reunited when he returned to Egypt. Miriam's and Aaron's concern was that they were entering Midianite territory, and the Midianite wife was jealous of the Ethiopian wife, probably hinting to Aaron and Miriam that there would be trouble with her people if the Ethiopian wife was allowed to have continued precedence over her. I have picked up clues in the Bible that Miriam was so miserable to Moses that she caused him to develop a stutter, but his Ethiopian wife truly loved him and was a great comfort to his soul. God made Aaron and Miriam back off because their objections to his Ethiopian wife were selfish. That's what that was all about. It wasn't about never criticizing an anointed leader even if they have done something wrong.

Ever since the first time I heard your podcast when this whole IHOPKC thing got exposed, I have looked forward to hearing you break down your thoughts and the biblical support. My husband and I just listened to this and we totally agree with what you’ve shared. It’s sad that people have to get ugly and defensive. Keep speaking the truth in love and being led by the Lord. We’re living in days where the Lord is separating the wheat and d chaff. It’s clear that there’s a horrible lack of discernment and fear of the Lord in the body of Christ. Your voices matter and we appreciate that you are willing to put yourselves out there on behalf of support of the victims. Spiritual and sexual abuse from church leaders (wolves) is all too prevalent and I’m thankful it’s getting exposed. This whole situation has also caused me to appreciate the importance of confession and repentance. I got called out for stealing and I had totally rationalized it as to why it wasn’t actually stealing but when they called me out I was like omg they’re right. I confessed to them and told them this thing with MB made me realize that it’s super important to call our sin what it is. Otherwise, we will continue to rationalize it. When we say it with our own mouths, it hits our pride and humbles us and makes us want to truly forsake it. Also I watch a lot of true crime and most people who m*Eder people have a rationalization for it that allows them to take that eternal decision. So yeah, calling my sin what it is and repenting quickly. God uses everything for the good of those who love him. Hashtag blessed.

Hello Blaise and Christina, really love and appreciate your videos throughout these months. As a BSSM graduate who has heard years of Kris' preaching, it's my believe people defended Kris so vehemently because it is Bethel Culture of loving everyone, esp sinners, to help them. I have been waiting and wanting a statement from Kris for a long time and its really disappointing for me. And most people from Bethel aren't interested to find out more - they want to stay out of it. And btw Kris isn't nice.....he can say very cutting words (as we witnessed with the idiot comment), esp in his younger days. He is more aware now but i would not say he is a nice guy. He is very opinionated. And while he can hang out with Bickle, i doubt they are real friends - more like ministry acquaintances. So I question what he means by saying he loves Mike Bickle 🤔. Kris does allow people to call him out (Danny did it and he taught we need to trust someone else more than yourself coz of blind spots), but i think people who follow Kris just want to defend him 🤷🏻‍♀️ . Plus they have no interest in what's going on at IHOPKC. Kris has preached how David was a lousy father: ie how he handled Tamar situation and remained silent. Which resulted in Absolom rebelling. So i can't understand why Kris isn't holding MB accountable for being a perpetual abuser and staying silent. Sigh. And yeah, maybe its the Bethel Bubble so he doesn't realise there are people who doesnt know his life.... Blessings! Looking forward to new videos!

Excellent podcast, and I enjoy how you two bounce ideas and thoughts off each other. Blaise, you would be an excellent pastor. When we look at I Corinthians 13, Paul is writing about charity, which is love in action. Someone can say "I love Mike Bickle" all day long; but in context with this scripture, love means to take action, which also includes confronting the person about their sinful and aberrant lifestyle. Also; when we look at I Samuel 24:6 & 24:10 in context, David is not talking about confronting Saul's behavior, but David is talking about not killing Saul. Applying that to our church culture today, what it means to not touch the Lord's anointed is to not strike them to hurt them (or kill them) physically. It has nothing to do with confronting leaders about their ungodly behaviors. BTW, an interesting statement Mike Bickle made back in the late '80s. As I best recall, he mentioned that he never held hands with Diane until they got engaged, and he never kissed her until their wedding day.

Exactly. Because he was a church leader when he did it, he was accountable to his church leadership, as well as his own wife and the parents of the women and girls he abused but he knew he disqualified himself so he covered his sin. He bipassed all of that on purpose. And I think it's because he had no real intentions of ever stopping longterm. If he had, he would have exposed his sin to those who could have held him accountable in leadership rather than just manipulating his victims into feeling sorry for him by acting remorseful only after he got what he wanted. He didn't truly repent of it then and he's not repenting of it now or we wouldn't even be having this discussion. Ergo, he is to be excommunicated. There's sadly no getting around it. But I do pray daily for his victims, be the abuse mental, emotional, sexual or spiritual. And I do pray that Mike will be granted real repentance before he bids this earth goodbye.
@hyacinthbucket593
@hyacinthbucket593 5 ай бұрын
Exactly. And his lack of genuine "real-time" repentance is glaringly obvious by the fact that he not only did NOT take steps to avoid further temptation, but took proactive steps to INCREASE his access to the sources of his temptation. With Tammy, he could have (at the very least), stopped being her private taxi - better yet, find another babysitter. Instead, he continued ingratiating himself to Tammy and her family, finding additional ways to spend time with her, and getting her to call him from school every day. With Jane Doe, he had already set her up in a private apartment, hired her as a research assistant, and given her keys to his private office before the first kiss in Paris. Did he undo any of this afterward? No. He continued spending time alone with her, continued filling her head with prophetic flattery, and rented her an apartment even further away from prying eyes. With each episode, he spritzed himself with that magical Psalm 51 potion, and called it good.

True. They refer to each other as Pastor so and so to condition the congregation to accept their control. Jesus taught that we should not call spiritual leaders by titles and spiritual leaders should not allow people to address them with titles. It gives them too much control. He was using Rabbi, Father, and Teacher only as examples of titles, not targetting only those titles. It gives leaders an ego boost to be addressed that way, especially when they call themselves Reverend so and so. (eye roll here) Behind the scenes, when pastors talk to other pastors whom they consider to be equal in status, they just call them their given names. I worked as a secretary in a ministry where my boss was nearly 100 years old, and he never objected to anyone calling him just by his given name. He was forty years older than me, and I never called him Pastor. He was a sweetheart and a joy to work for. He was the Founder and Director of that ministry, which was his position and I always included that in his formal letters beneath his signature, but he did not require me to put Pastor before his name.

In context David has decided to not kill Saul, though he had an opportunity. I am all for not killing people, but as you say Paul, the apostle, and Jesus, called out sin, Jesus especially called out sin in religious leaders, so I don't understand how it isn't Christ like when Jesus did it.
@faithworks217

Right on, Wendy. David did not kill Saul, but he did not ignore the fact that Saul had faults. That was why he was running from Saul. He knew Saul was jealous of him. He also knew he was demonized; he'd played his harp to calm him down. God saw fit to record these things about Saul in the Bible. David's men found fault with Saul, too, which is why they joined up with David and the Bible lists some of them as mighty men, honourable men. Jonathan tried to correct his father and got a spear thrown at him for doing so. He watched and listened and warned David ahead of time about when and where Saul planned to attack him.

You are so spot on understanding the NAR leaders who claim the leadership of today’s modern “apostles and prophets” and how they are considered “anointed” to lead the church today…. And how dangerous it is. The dedication to follow, support, and blindly agree with their leadership is scary! Che Ahn’s recent book on Modern Apostles and Prophets is SCARY and concerning. Red flag 🚩 galore. Thankful for your discernment and your voice to lovingly speak truth. God is full of grace but the deception and partial truth needs to be pointed out… Thankful my parents didn’t join Mike’s invitation, pull, draw or attraction to work with him in the 80’s. They almost did… I am a year younger than Tammy Woods. Praise God my dad and mom compared teachings to Scripture, wrestled with it and had a friend who challenged the teachings lovingly. So thankful. Keep speaking.

My husband and I attend Bethel Church, and we both did BSSM last year. I will say that I have been very skeptical of certain things within the honor culture paradigm, and have prayed for Bethel a ton while I'm here, as I've discerned wrong things taking place under that paradigm. I just have to say real quick that I know multiple people, personally, who have confronted Kris V over things he has said. Every single time he has been deeply sorry and genuinely apologetic. I know he can come off as arrogant sometimes, but I have firsthand knowledge that he does take rebukes well and does allow the Lord to chastise him, even through "regular folks" like me. I'm not making excuses for the honor culture paradigm, just speaking to my personal knowledge of Kris himself.

A normal person with empathy would not have preached a sermon like that. A narcissist would. Those under the control of the narcissist will equate him with God, so any criticism of him will be seen as an attack on God himself. That's how spiritual abuse works. The narcissist will then empty the pockets of the flock, assert control over them by threatening them spiritually, and continue to brainwash them into obedience. That sermon was about control. Don't go to social media. Do as your told. Know your place. The narcissist is God's anointed one, so do not question. Follow the money to see what really motivates these guys.

I had a pastor like that. He blessed me in a lot of ways, but when I saw the error in the tithing doctrine, he felt very threatened. He warned people against going on the Internet and said that, if anyone passed around the Bible study that I gave him, which showed the errors in the tithe doctrine, they would be asked to leave the church. Why should people not read that study? There was no swearing or verbal abuse of any kind. It quoted a lot of verses from the Bible and provided the background for them, and explained how they have been misunderstood.

I've been studying narcissism heavily for the past year. Did you know the only 501c3 in the U.S. that doesn't have to file taxes is a church? So the best way to get rich is to start a church, lie to people to get them to give you money, and then berate them for questioning the system. The only people who can pull that off is charismatic leaders who have zero issue with lying. Narcissists

Thank you for your balanced perspective. There is so much error and false teaching today because pastors don’t know God’s Word, don’t understand the character of God or Holiness and definitely don’t understand the gravity of sin. The incident about David and Saul and ‘don’t touch the Lord’s anointed’, is descriptive and not prescriptive. David was addressing his men and telling them not to physically hurt or kill Saul. This Scripture does not apply to self appointed, self anointed men, trying to cover/excuse their sin.

Kris’ statement and stance are demonstrative. Even IF you want to “reserve judgment” until more evidence presents itself … the attitude is NOT “Oh Well!!!” The Bible makes it very clear that a leader MUST BE ABOVE REPROACH … THAT MEANS even IF there were to be a single accusation it would never “stick” … let alone have MULTIPLE accusations that HAVE “stuck.”

God certainly shows us WE ALL need to stick with His Word and live the Word, walk in the Spirit so we will be taught of Him. Too many preachers with big following have totally failed in the character department. We are not to follow any man whose life we cant see. So how is there duch a following for these youtube preachers when we know nothing about THEIR life?

I've listened to Leaving the Message channel. Whoa! I needed to know about this. When I got saved, Ern Baxter was the pastor of the first church I became a part of. Now I know why some of my friends believed some really strange things that I thought were utterly disgusting. Ern said that William Branham did not have a gift for teaching, that he was called to be a prophet. He never spoke of Branham's teaching that was in error. I think he should have done so. My friends put Branham on a pedestal. After listening to those guys on that channel, I have concluded that Branham really was not a prophet of God. He was like Balaam and a fraud. God used Balaam to bless Israel, but that does not mean that Balaam was a good guy. He also counselled Israel's enemies about how to weaken Israel and destroy them, and Moses ended up killing him in battle.

You guys nailed it in the previous video. As for a majority of the leaders in the charismatic movement, these men lead with their "visions" and not the truth of what Jesus teaches in the scriptures. They are not shepherds, they are men who are building their own Kingdoms on the back of out- of-context scripture without submiting to the authority of Jesus. Knowing God's word helps the sheep discern between true shepherds and wolves. And praise God that he sees the broken and he will bring justice for the oppressed. Jesus sees and he calls the weak and burdened to come to him and rest. Only in Christ do we find rest and healing. These men should be ashamed at how they lack the Christ-like care and concern for the sheep in their care. 2 John 9 "Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son." James 3:1 "Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness." People need to read 1 and 2 Timothy and the qualifications for elders and teachers in the Church. Jesus teaches in Matthew 24 about what will happen in the end times with all the false teachers and real miracles they will perform. Jude also teaches about false teachers. The tares are among the wheat NOW. The wolves and goats are among the sheep NOW. Jesus tells his disciples to be shrewd as serpents and gentle as doves. We must be also.

I'm glad you did this video. The first one, when I heard what Kris said, I was not surprised. Same track record. I refrained from responding then, but I'm going to now.... I think there needs to be a reformation in American evangelicalism and people need to stop bowing down at the feet of so called apostles and prophets instead of Jesus Christ. Would I trust going forward to bethel leadership about real problems or abuse? Never. Would I trust going to a leader in network with and following bethel models? Never. Because none of the them in a position of leadership did the right thing when I went to them. I got labeled and viewed like a problem that needed to be fixed/sozoed into compliance. Also, the level of narcissistic abuse I've experienced in church settings is insane. I am currently walking out my own healing journey from trauma. And sadly, I haven't been able to do that in a church community. I came forward about my abuser and the "bethel culture of love" showered them with honor while I continued to suffer, so I left.

Sorry that happened to you. I went to MorningStar back in 05-08. Bill used to come and many seem to slobber all over him. But after witnessing spiritual abuse, the multiple missed prophecies, the lack of discipline of Bentley but they would hold the small guy/gal accountable though. I left disgusted. I spent a lot time reading the Psalms and study the life Jesus as presented in the Gospels and felt like none of these guys are giving an honest presentation of Jesus. So, I agree reformation is a serious need. But from experience since then . It’s really hard to convince these people. I have had more success doing prison ministry and talking to drug dealers and addictions. They are under a spell. As much as it hurt me I am thankful to actually see, versus thinking I am a cutting edge prophetic person.

I think some of the problem with the whole idea of, “Well, they apologized back in the day when this happened 20+ years ago,” is that we are lumping apologizing and repentance together as if they are synonymous. They are not. It is one thing to apologize for something, but it is a whole other level when we repent. Repentance brings a turning away from sin. If, after an apology, we see yet another instance of sin, we can see that there is a pattern. This goes against repentance.
