LA Guns, a life on the road as support for Ted Nugent, AC/DC , Iron Maiden and more! What was it like touring with these bands in 1988?

I’m in a cover band with a guitarist that played with Derek and is still good friends with him. I’ll send him this video, I’m sure he’d get a kick out of it.

Great vid. The first time I saw L.A. Guns was with AC/DC in Hamilton Ontario. I was really there to see Guns and was bummed that they barely got a half hour! lol I remember seeing a video of Warrant playing a water park with the same “stage” setup you described. It rained all day and into the evening but people were still in the pool. The opening acts (I wanna say Blue Murder and Stage Dolls) only got to play 2 or 3 songs each and the Warrant guys basically played in a puddle when it stopped raining. lol Nobody said touring would ever be dull!

Really felt like I was there. Listened twice. I enjoyed some of the more “technical” things like the Stones and AC/DC share some of the same crew. Being on tour with Ted. He never disappoints live. Probably my favorite videos of yours yet. The story lines are connecting and interweaving at this point. Really am enjoying it. I also really enjoy the stories about “bumping up”. 😂

Mild clarification: The animal Ted shot was a cat. He ran on the bus when we stopped and excitedly said: "YOU EVER SEE A SHOT LIKE THAT? KER FUCKIN' PING! RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES!" before walking it back a little with some stuff about how it was a stray and those things needed to be controlled anyway. He used the .380 that he kept in the small of his back. The tour ended in Michigan, but the restaurant was in the Florida Panhandle, run by what Ted referred to as: "Some hippies I let live". I don't know any more specifically where it was, but it was goddam jungle. Mick made buddies with Mal on the '91 AC/DC tour. Mal was in rehab on the '88 one and Stevie was out playing rhythm guitar. Another mild clarification: I enjoy these. I listen at work in with my podcasts. Keep it up.

Will always love my Uncle Ted...We think a lot alike and his love for this country`s unparalleled......Thanx,from the coast of Maine...Had a lot of friends that went to the Portland show....a lot of the concert tees could be seen in my high school after-I was 17 at the time......Hope someone somewhere`s workin` on that time machine....I could only afford(from the summer job money)to save up for my KISS shows,and Dec.`87 was the Crazy Nights show and,of course,had to get into the Monsters of Rock show,7 months later,to see the Scorps..........If it wasn`t for those shows,I would`ve been there,too........Keep `em comin`...

I was at the Maiden show in Phoenix. Sadly at the time I was not a big LA Guns fan, but that has changed and I now think they are one of the best from era. At that show were not well received. Yes, they didn't match up great with Maiden, but when that show was announced and tickets were being sold it was for Iron Maiden with GNR opening. So, like many there I had bought tickets for a show expecting GNR to be on the bill. They had blown up at that point and were on their way to being the biggest band in the world. Any band that tried to take that slot was going to get slaughtered up there as openers. No fault at all to the LA Guns boys. My recollection is they were pretty damn good, but the crowd just wasn't into it.

That's pure BS. Tons of bands have toured with Maiden and have nothing but great things to say about them. From W.A.S.P. to Megadeth, Anthrax and Testament. Just because poser bands like LA Guns or GnR didn't like them doesn't mean they aren't good to tour with.

Yes but that was 8 years prior and I was only tight with Paul Dianno. The rest of the band did not remember me, and I didn’t tell them. Plus we never saw or hung with any of the maiden band except Nicko. They were very uptight people IMO. Thanks for watching 🙏

Iron maiden don't seemd to have changed much....there is video of their current tour of Bruce Dickinson calling the audience a bunch of idiots for smoking weed in his presence.....imagine that weed at a metal show....lol...how long has he been doing this lol

@christophercolwell8739
@christophercolwell8739 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, Bruce did that at the show I attended as well. He seemed to be doing the faux outrage at weed smokers at multiple shows, as I saw the same thing on multiple videos from different cities. Just strange, especially at a metal show. I mean I have seen Maiden maybe a half dozen times since the Powerslave tour, and weed smoke is part of the concert experience. I still love Maiden and he's one of my favorite singers, but if I was going to choose one of my favorite singers to hang with for a bit I think I'd take Rob Halford, Dio, or Brian Johnson over Bruce.
