Win the honkin top lever spring fight, without drilling the hole in the side right side lock panel. This is an addendum to Anvil 0128, where we mentioned a need to get this procedure on video. Punch diameter is VERY important, do not hose up the threads in the top lever strut! NOT a tutorial...we show what you need to learn, not how to do . Cannot perform at this level? Do NOT attempt.
Support us: / anvil and a big shout out to those that do.....

Beautiful. This is why, instead of bluster about a better way, one simply needs to demonstrate on video and we all learn. Thank you to all the sensible minds that made this video possible.

My grandpa passed away in 2020 and left me his lc smith shotgun I was ignorant but wanted to learn the mechanics of the double barrel. Was never able to get the shotgun back together and had it in the back of storage and the front of my mind for years. Until I had enough fuck it in me to start deep diving in videos. And I eventually found yours two weeks ago and started getting all the tools and I can say tonight monday the 5th of February I was able to fire his shotgun again thank you so much for your video.

I appreciate you taking the time to clearly and completely cover important details that you wish to share with us. I know it took you probably an hour of total labor to create the video, edit, upload, etc. etc. Thank you.

Mark, thank you, honestly it's been so long since I put mine together I cannot remember how I did it. I just remember that the last time I tried it I got so frustrated that I put it up and over a decade later it still sits in the shop in parts. I will give your method a try, I cannot see why it won't work and get this old gun put back together.

Things like this make me wonder how & why the factory did it. I used to work on cars and I found that a lot of times, engineers designed things more complicated than needed.

Id be willing to bet the worker had a threaded rod for this job specifixally. So he could screw it into the hole and use it as a guide and pry bar
@marknovak8255
@marknovak8255 8 ай бұрын
@drevil2529 Nope....it's a 4 40 thread and will bend on a whim. The offset between the bottom metal and the threaded hole means a tapered punch is necessary to make both holes at once. If you just grab the punch, it will BEND. Hence, the notched screwdriver to push down low. There's more to this than meets the eye

Never ceases to amaze me of the fine slotted screws gun makers use knowing a weapon has to worked on in its lifetime.

I made a jig that fits into the lock mortise in the receiver. It has a 1/4 20 threaded rod with a point turned on the end. I clamp the jig in the receiver in a vise. With little effort I turn the screw against the spring and install the trigger plate with no effort, no risk of mangling the screw hole or slipping and gouging the metal and certainly no risk of damaging the stock

Rather than a punch, could a 4-40 machine screw be used? Looks like this would assure no damage to the threads.
