My 6th circuit of the EGBW pattern. Trying to call out ATC traffic calls to just get used to when to speak, even if what I say isn't overly good. Need to start practicing somewhere!
Sorry about the quality of the video, my Nvidia 1080 died eventually so I'm now using an old AMD R390X so I can't run the sim at 2k and needs to run at 1080p medium settings.
The comparison video from David Archer can be seen here:

This is on my custom Wellesbourne Mountford scenery which can be downloaded at:

I'm also using the modified version of the Cessna 152 which can be downloaded at:

Great video as usual, and even better scenery. The larger Vulcan looks spot on to me, so well done and thanks for that. You did ask for comments on your performance as a trainee pilot, so I hope you won't mind if I am super-critical. a) Start-sequence: Turn on the alternator switch after engine start to avoid spike damage (as with the other electronics). b) First ATC call - good c) In real life we members of SWFS curse pilots like you who spray our club aircraft with gravel during their engine run-up. Best to taxi closer to the Alpha hold before turning into wind to carry out your checks. d) Second ATC call - good. If there was ATC operational you would receive clearance to 'take-off at your discretion' (since Wellesbourne tower only provides an Information Service, not full ATC), unless there is somebody on final in which case you would be instructed to 'hold position - traffic on final'. In the absence of ATC this merely informs everyone that you are at holding point A, so you now need to let everyone know what you are doing next - i.e. 'lining up runway 18' (in case If you've missed someone approaching on final in which case they will let you know, and you must then immediately stop as they have priority). e) Third ATC call, taking off - good. You are correct, you need to add 'staying in the circuit' (not pattern, that is American), or departing south-west, etc. f) Take-off and climb out - good, but don't forget your rolling checks - engine RPM good, engine T&P's in the green, air-speed alive), followed by after take-off checks when you are at a safe height with a positive rate of climb - FEL (flaps up, engine T&P's in the green, landing light as required). g) Cross-wind turn - good h) Down-wind leg. You said that you needed to reduce throttle but failed to do so, resulting in you belting done the leg at 105 knots. The circuit speed is 90 knots, it's important that everyone keeps to this to ensure even traffic spacing when the circuit is busy. i) Down-wind call - good j) Base leg turn - best to reduce throttle to 1500 rpm before starting the base leg turn, keeping the nose up to bleed the speed off during the turn. As it was you were half-way down the base leg before you were able to introduce the first stage of flaps. I would normally put two stages of flaps in here. k) Final turn - a bit early, surprisingly in view of comments above, but you coped well and lined up nicely. However you were too high (two whites) & too hot (80 knots) and it took some time before your approach was stabilized (65 knots, one white one red on the PAPI's. l) Did you make a call on final? Most important call of them all (see d above). m) But despite this you made a very nice landing. Well done. n) Small point - although it's the same bit of tarmac you are travelling in the 23 direction, so you exit via 23 not 05. o) In the UK we announce 'runway vacated' not 'clear of runway'. But I made this mistake on my first solo so you are forgiven! p) Shut-down procedure - run the engine up to 1700 rpm to clear the plugs, then back to 1200, then mixture to lean. As I say, this is being super-critical (which is what instructors are to me during my biennial review flight) so I hope you will take it in good heart. You are infinitely better at flying than I am at using Blender, so very well done once again.

yes! this sort of stuff is so useful, you won't realise how hard I'll study your comments and take it all on board and try and implement it into my next flight! thank you so much for taking the time to give such detailed feedback!

I need to fly this approach more to get used to it, I keep panicking I'm going to run out of speed but then I still end up approaching too fast, I've just got to trust that the approach works. I have this thing of wanting to stay high and a bit on the fast side in case I don't make the runway :D I can't believe I forgot my final ATC call, I've been practicing that so much too but it totally slipped my mind! One more thing with shut down procedure, do you turn the ALT off before reducing mixture? (so it's Engine On, ALT On and then reverse would be ALT Off, Engine Off?)

Don't worry, you're not the first and won't be the last to forget something. As long as you can walk away from it ...... Shutdown procedure should really be as you suggest (Alt off, the shutdown) but must admit we rarely do. Not so important, the majority of spikes are caused by the starter motor.

Flying Theston Actually it's a good illustration of why we insist on a sterile cockpit during take-off and landing, even in GA. You forgot the final call partly because you were too busy talking about your graphics card 😂

@@152driver1 yeah that's really good advice, I totally agree that I don't concentrate enough and have a tendency to rush things. I need to focus more on doing the important things, like landing! :)
