Nice to know what the cut-off voltage level is and how the the controller regulates the amps to provide enough juice to finish a ride. Very informative Mahalo

I am glad it helped. I don't see them on Lectric's website anymore but I think you can pick up an used one very cheap. I love mine but my wife not as much. It has a real bike feel but you have to pedal. Gives me a good workout while going 20+ mph. Good luck

I have been researching throttle only for the past week or so. It seems like from what I'm seeing, binging reviews, is that there was almost a direct correlation to amp hours and mileage in real world non ideal conditions. So if you have a 14 amp hour battery, you can estimate around 14 miles. This is a real world conditions where there's lots of hills, inclines, starting and stopping, wind and things of that nature.
@tai.randomthings
@tai.randomthings 3 ай бұрын
Interesting...14 miles seems low. But you are 100% correct that environmental conditions (hillyness, wind, your weight, and tire pressure, etc) all play a major role on energy needed to move you 1 mile. How you throttle will also impact you. Stop and go will drain batteries quicker than steady. No different than driving a car. Happy riding!

I occassionally ride on PCH, it can get a little scary. I've learned that it's safer if I take the entire lane instead of hugging the side when the road is tight. Too many cars try to squeeze by so now I make sure they see me and go around. Safe riding!

@@tai.randomthings yes it was. I have the xp 2.0 step through and my mileage is quite low, less than 100 miles. My range is only 20 miles due to steep hills and my being 236 pounds plus the gear I carry in the rear and front rack. I really like my ebike but I don’t dare take it on long rides. Did you say that the voltage reading should be 40 volts to be needing a recharge? Currently I recharge it when it gets down to 45-47 volts. No biggie but I wish the battery would last at least 30 miles, you know? I appreciate your pointers.
@tai.randomthings
@tai.randomthings Жыл бұрын
@@kikupub71 Running out of battery is a horrible experience! For this test, the running voltage was just a hair under 41 Volts when it cut power to the motor. Then the voltage will bounce back up about 2 volts to 42.5 volts (+/-). That is what I mean by resting voltage. If you have 45-47 volts, its probably close to 40% battery life. I haven't seen a difference in when to charge the battery in terms of how much battery left. I do try to NOT charge it right after a ride. I like to let the battery cool down for 30 minutes or so before I start charging. I don't know if that makes a difference but in general, heat kills batteries so I try to temper that a little. The new XP 2.0 with the extended battery may get you 30 miles but it would be close, especially if you don't pedal. That's really my only complaint about the XP. Otherwise, its a fantastic bike.

Great video! I hear a lot of people talking about their speedometer being off due to tire diameter, yet i havent seen a single reviewer actually measure the circumference or diameter of their tire. I have a cheapo bike computer on my bicycle that needs you to enter the circumference of your tire and enter it in settings. Makes for an accurate speedometer!

@ZiggyDaMoe
@ZiggyDaMoe Жыл бұрын
This gave me an idea. I changed the circumference to a tiny wheel. I thought that if the computer saw the speed at 10 mph but I was really going 20 mph that I could change the 20 mph max with the accelerator. Unfortunately that was not successful for me. I was only able to achieve around the max of 20 mph. I could not check against a GPS since I just tipped the bike on the kickstand and ran the throttle. It seemed that it spun at the same speed regardless. I know, not very scientific.

Wow, you are REALLY making me want to splurge and get the XPremium with how well done your videos are. I would be a first time buyer and due to cost of these (and other) ebikes, buyer remorse would be VERY painful should I not get the correct bike for me. I am looking for an ebike to help get me into a less hefty state..to put it bluntly, I'm a fat kid! My hope is that by getting an Ebike, I can reduce the wear on my vehicle while also getting in more exercise by not relying on my car for groceries and in-town errands / close trips. Would you say this ebike is still viable for someone who weighs roughly 240lbs? In addition to this, I'd be carrying 10-30lbs possibly each trip. I imagine I will be quite reliant on the throttle only and pedal assist more at first, until my potato body get's accustom. There are so many ebikes and my budget is maxed on the current price to date for the model at $1,811.54 (Black Friday bundle with Cargo Package). Any suggestions you have would be great!
@tai.randomthings
@tai.randomthings Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad the videos have been providing insight. I'm 5'7 and weigh about 205 pounds (formerly 250 pounds). I lost a lot of weight due to a medical issue but now my bikes help me keep it off (I have many different styles). I was riding the XPremium during the great cycle challenge to raise money to fight kid's cancer and for the month of September, I rode 1403 miles and lost 9 pounds. During the challenge, I sometimes would packed a spare battery, lock and tools and was probably carrying an extra 30 pounds no problem. With the XPremium, you may feel the bike is underwhelming in the beginning. In otherwords, you may not feel the bike is very fast and the motor is not that responsive. Especially if you are using throttle only. It's a bike you grow into and meant for you to get that real bike feel and burn in the legs in order to get to top speed (28 mph). Lectric recently came out with the XP 3.0, which is a little less $ and has the ability to take a heavy payload and it's a hub motor so it will be very nimble in throttle only. But the risk is that you may outgrow it after you get comfortable riding and lost a little weight. But I think you can get good exercise from it for a good while. Also, the XPs have been reselling well so you may be able to get 70% of your money back if you keep it in decent condition. So if you feel you have outgrown your bike, then sell the XP (but keep the cargo package as those are interchangable) and take the money and buy the XPremium. The other alternative is to bite the bullet and commit to riding hard. I have seen on facebook marketplace that people may try to sell their XPremium because it's not what they expected. Some of those deals have been amazingly low, like $1100. Just doesn't come with warranty. There are other options but I will stop blabbing and if you have any follow up questions, I am happy to share my experience.

Lectric makes a long range battery for the 2.0 step thru. 14 ah. I got one. I'm hoping to get at least 30 miles in combination with the 9.6 ah standard one. I only got 15 mi in Pas 2 and 3 .

@@brucefrye2292 the "in-rush" current from on and off pedaling can be significant. I like to stare at the current readings while riding so that i can see how my riding style and cadence is drawing power. May be worth looking into, just be careful to not just stare at it and not look at the road. I've almost hit a couple of "things" while staring at the controller.

The max speed setting only applies when you are in Pedal assist mode...at least that's what I've been able to figure out. This was the same on my XP 2.0. But there may be a locked setting that I haven't figured out how to hack.

@@tai.randomthings First, turn your bike on by holding the menu button. Then, press and hold the + & - buttons for a couple of seconds. Your screen will change to the settings menu. Use the menu button to find screen “P08” and change it to “100” with the + or - button. The Lectric XP 2.0 comes with this setting at “32” which will allow the motor to assist up to 20mph. By switching it to “100” the motor will assist up to 28mph.

@@ihsans7724 Thank you...I think I explained poorly in the video. I've ridden other bikes where the throttle is unrestricted and the bike will go up to the top speed but Lectric restricts throttle only speed to 20 MPH regardless if you change the P8 setting to 100. I think this has to do with Class 2 vs Class 3 bike restrictions. Let me know if you are able to get the bike to go to 28 MPH with throttle only and without pedaling. If you can, maybe there is another setting that I need to change. Unfortunately, the manual does not explain all the setting, which on my bike, there are the ones that I cannot change even if I wanted to.

I think there are a lot of factors to consider with this bike. It's definitely not the same as the XP with both good and bad. It depends on the rider and the need. I'm hoping the information helps people make an informed decision. Full disclosure, my wife does prefer the XP 2.0 becaues this bike actually requires you to pedal hard to get to top speed. More videos to come, thanks for watching. Happy riding!
