Great, glad it helped. They do now have a 3rd gen. out so maybe worth comparing, but imagine in most cases it'll cost a fair bit more. When you mention the Windows education suite - do you mean Office online or is this something more(?) Interesting review. How was the palm rejection with the stylus. I need something a little more rugged for tossing in a back pack for taking notes but, while you did demonstrate writing, you didn't mention if the unit has none/poor/decent/good palm rejection? Perhaps in OneNote or some other note taking app?

Glad it was of interest. Yes, the palm rejection seemed good to me, I think the larger bezels may actually help here too. The 4GB of DD4 is soldered, is there a spare slot for another 4GB? I see it supports 8GB total. I'm assuming it's on the other side of the mobo.

I don't thibk so. Maybe check for any tear down video that may show more? In my experience you can't upgrade Chromebooks RAM.

did they fix the fragile hinges? otherwise, it's a non-starter..they break.

Hi Brian, I'm not seeing any reports of issues with the hinges on the 500e 2nd Gen online. I think you might be referencing some of the issues I've seen users report with the hinges/design of the Flex 5i and other machines that share the same hinge. I have a Flex 5i and have had several other convertible Lenovo Chromebooks and not had any hinge issues myself, fingers crossed.

@@MergeDroid yes, my Flex 5i cracked a left hinge after 5 closings..the next one, after 8 , and I was being very very careful, knowing it was an issue....I just leave it open on a stand now..it's not been closed in well over a year, negating any benefit of being portable, or convertable. I see a strength strip screwed onto the one in the video, (tho I'd be forever leary of one now)..otherwise, it's a great machine.

Ah, sorry. I'm not overly familiar with the 511, but have seen the specs. Hard to say as the Lenovo 500e 2nd Gen and the Asus C214MA are both quite unique in their more rugged outer design, even if some of the components might be similar to other models.

@@MergeDroid Yes I've also seen that video but it's not easy for me to choose which to buy for myself. I am a student, currently doing GCSE's and just want a laptop to be able to store files, access Microsoft, email and basically everything an ordinary laptop can do. But I want it to be a better looking, modern one which has a nice keyboard touch to it.

I have a laptop and table that i love but thinking getting something like this. I love my tablet but their many keyboards for it that i dont like but love that has better battery life than my laptop. I love my laptop but battery does die quicker than my tablet and not much for bringing it to bed with me with it feeling clunky. Thinking getting a chromebook that combines bes tof both world but a decent size where feels comfortable when using it and not too big.

Get the newest model you can afford. 300e gen 3 is newer than 500e gen 2.

You'll need a 45w USB C charger to charge and power it when on, imagine the Switch is at least that? Hope you like your Chromebook. You can charge when off with a lower rated charger, it'll just take longer, see: kzfaq.infoWAGKJ2UiZz0

Thanks, I've just looked on the Amazon US site. It looks like you're talking about the older first generation model with an N3000 series Celeron processor, rather than the second generation model in the review. I'd recommend avoiding that first generation as the processor is not the best now (launched 2016) and it's past it's AUE date meaning no more ChromeOS updates - kzfaq.infoCbimPPQm_Ko However, if you're happy with this though that is a cheap price!

It would do the job if you just need the Chrome web broswer or compatible Android apps, but I'd recommend you check out and compare to some of the newer Chromebooks I've shown on the channel recently.

dipped to about 175£ on the DK market recently, got one of them, highly impressed, both by hardware and 2022 Chrome OS impossible to beat if you consider the EMR pen is included and really good actually the 4 core Celeron eats everything easily , tons of tabs and windows, all flying adding screenrecording adds a bit of a flicker here and there, that's all considering a 3:2 form factor instead, like the spin 512, otherwise no regrets at all

I have noticed quite a few times. I often get the email or alert notification, then to to view and reply and get the message that the reply has been deleted. Sometimes I can see it's because a link is included. It seems KZfaq let's the poster see their comment but no one else. Not ideal. You can test by viewing the video in an incognito session or with another account.

Would not recommend I had it for 5 years and it killed it self was not water damage it was liquid damage it killed itself very slow aswell it’s horrible and the stylus falls out of the laptop constantly
