Lenovo ThinkCentre M91p. Quick look at the exterior, ports and interior components. Also quick run through recovery process and boot up into Windows 7 Pro 64bit. Hope you'll like it. Enjoy!

I just bought this. Very good product would recommend. Use the blue cable to connect to monitor for great quality. Unfortunately I haven't used it as it couldn't connect to wifi but this was a mannafacturing error. Use windows 10 if possible, makes setup much easier

Hello! Nice video! Is it good for gaming? I know it’s old but it does meet the requirements to play X-Plane 11, but I don’t know if the RAM and all that stuff is very old and cannot play the simulator.

With some extra RAM they run very well. If you get an SSD on top this is a very nice PC.

Do you need to clear your SSD and do a fresh install? What if my SSD already has an OS?

ArdaBlock SSDs just like HDDs don't need to be prepared for Windows 7 or 10 install. When you are running install from first boot you can choose Custom option that will allow you to 'delete' all partitions on your drive and then continue with the install. This way you end up with no previous data.

I love it. Got it new with a massive discount. Thought to keep it until Ivy Bridge is out but.. To be honest I rather invest money into some Adobe software than upgrade. The PC runs silky smooth just need to wait until NVidia GT630 or 640 shows up with Kepler core.

if you already have the sandy bridge i dont think there is a reason to upgrade at least if you do wait till haswell (if it is even possible to upgrade then) because the cpu isnt complete taking advantage of the 22nanometer

Thank you very much, I just reset my Win7 Lenovo now you let me know just press f11 to recovery the PC. Now I can eating the chips and watching the movie.

+Xiang Liu Enjoy the relaxing time. And don't forget, Windows 10 free upgrade is only free until summer. I would recommend get it even if you don't want one now. That way you can always upgrade and the activation will remain.

You are right. However I have got the Ivy Bridge already (see my most recent videos of PC build). Mainly because I wanted a full height PC with decent GPU (Lenovo did not allow much of that). The upgrade brought lower temperatures and slightly lowered encoding times. Haswell is going to be well into next year I think by that time I will be burning with desire to upgrade :) As for Lenovo - they are very capable and I had no regrets of buying that model (got for half the retail price).

You don't happen to still have a recovery disc/USB set for that one, do you? Got mine used, but didn't include the discs, manuals, etc...rather annoying, even though I did just get it as an "emergency backup box."

THANKS for showing this off! I ordered a "Renewed" LenovaThinkCentre M91p from Amazon for $129 and should get it any day now. I'm wondering if the CD Player is a Burner as well and is it a standard PC CD? The reason I ask is I may try to reclaim a BluRay burner off my dead PC computer and replace the CD one in the Lenova. My current computer is a homebrew I put together, but I think the main reason I'm having problems is the motherboard is too far outdated. Loading videos on KZfaq takes forever and if I pause a video, it takes forever to unpause. Playing video that resides on my PC also has a sluggish start, and gameplay on FallOut New Vegas and simular games are sluggish as well.

Hi. Not sure on the burner, as it may have been swapped at some stage as well. I'd also recommend M93p if you have a choice of getting one as M91p is good bit out of date to be honest. Even M93p is officially out of Windows 10 support as of next moth.

I need a guide. Please explain the steps in simple detail. Like, the compatible cpu, any extra fans installed, increased power source, heat sink? Answers to these questions will help me decide if it is something that I can do myself.

+Espada Cero no sorry. Even if I did I would have latest one like here support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds018245 . If it is wrong one chances are you might not be able to boot at all. Try the link for the BIOS first, hopefully it will work for you.

It says “a required device isn’t connected or can’t be accessed” in the bios. Any help installing and booting windows?

Hi Josh. It is hard to tell, I haven't had this PC for many years now. I believe this is a Windows message rather than BIOS. Boot menu can be accessed via F12 I believe, once you have a bootbale media eg. Windows 10 USB key.

Hi. You need to get an adapter. Something like TP Link USB one.

In a sence yes. However I wouldn't bother as this one is an OEM product. By that I mean all parts are custom including chasis, MB and PSU. You'd be better off going with full tower M91 instead this M91p. I am waiting for NVidia GT630 now that should be around equal GTX 460 and consume much less alowing me to run it on this machine :) In low profile too!

i have m91 with a 550 watt normal atx power supply and a gtx 650 which uses a 6 pin connector, i wish i could find a list of supported gpu's anywhere though. Mine is a full size tower m91 not the m91p

Full size tower with such PSU would easily accept any GPU with single PCIe power requirement. NVidia 9 series such as GTX 960 is a good choice atm. Does it work with GTX 650? Check length of the card that can fit in, the rest should be fine.

gtx 650 works great but i bought an r9-285x and the mobo would not recognize it and pc would not start. highest cards ran with this pc i have seen on the gpu testing apps is r9-270x and i think a gtx750. i called lenovo... rudddee people

Lenovo would always say to you no the cards should not be used. They want you to buy from them but then again you will never get decent card for good price from Lenovo. I had few Lenovo PCs in the past and any GPU works, just be sure you don't go over single 6pin PCIe power spec.

Hi. The "latest" you can use in this PC is GTX 1050Ti. Until GTX 2060 / 2050 series come out whichever one does not need additional power connector and comes in low profile form factor.

If you have watched the video you probably saw a Display Port connection. You can use this instead or just get an adapter if you need.

Did you purchase yours new from Lenovo or second hand? If the latter chances are they used their own software DVD / USB / ISO to set it up for you.

I believe Windows 8 and later are not supported by this CPU / chipset in terms of power savings etc. I had same issue with my old Lenovo laptop.

I didn't, got newer PC. Core2Duo is very inefficient compared to any Sandybridge and newer generation i3, never mind i5. You would be surprised of performance gains, especially if you are gaming.

Check Kingston memory configurator. If you can find 2*8GB support (doubt it) then Hyper X should be fine. Mind you this is a "white" computer, these can be picky.

Micooo I would say you will be fine with any DDR3 4GBx2 modules. Check Kingston configurator and see if you can get that RAM. Speeds don't matter much and 8GB will be enough unless you are heavy into Photoshop. For gaming anything over 8GB currently does not matter too much. Especially with the CPU you have.

+sniper beast audio or video? For audio it is fast enough for video you would need a dedicated GPU. Something along the lines of GTX 950. I tried editing video on laptop with i5 CPU and no dedicated graphics. 720 and 1080p resolutions were ok without effects etc. 4k was impossible.

***** also depends a lot on resolution of files working with and amount of multiple streams. Never mind effects on top. CPU in these cases is the king. To the point where you need at least dual Xeons to comfortably edit in 4k.

Good afternoon good video have the same computer, but I made some updates Lenovo ThinkCentre M91p SFF Intel Core i5-2400 3.1GHz CPU 2 generation. OEM 8 GB RAM DDR3 RAM Kingston HyperX 3K 240GB SSD SATA III 2.5 Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit SP1 It has updated the latest version of the BIOS (9HKT58A). release 7/29/2014 GPU XFX R7 250 1GB GDR5 128-bits(new never used) When I install in the PCI- e the computer starts but does not send video signal, not turn the hard disk, etc. , but the fan of the GPU is turning , and when the withdrawal the computer starts up and works normally . I have not changed the power supply OEM brings , but I have made another cooler master 500w on the cabinet and got it . Change the video output options the bios does not work passes the same, you have a list of GPU that supports this computer or my GPU is damaged? Sorry for my English, cya!!

jesus ernesto zavala figueroa you might be using too much wattage for your PSU to start. There could also be some sort of protection in BIOS not allowing it. Although I did use GPUs on this system before without issues. Mind you, with no additional power requirement. You can check wattage on Lenovo PSU and plug the PC into power meter of some sort, they are really inexpensive. See the draw it generates with GPU. Does the PC starts when you use another power supply? If so - then this is the case.

hello goodnight when I use the OEM PSU or another external PC works smoothly, but when I install the GPU in the port PCI -e the computer does not turn on options bios put it on automatic but does not detect the video output the withdrawal GPU and works without problems if this motherboard disown works with certain models of GPU , greetings .

Hard to tell. Could be motherboard issue, could be not enough power (unlikely) or could be faulty GPU. You need to try part by part see what's faulty. But for that you will need spare PC or parts. No easy answer there, sorry.

Jordan Shackelford center is spelled centre in the UK, ive lived in America, but Americans are of European descent so technically the Americans are wrong.
