What is saving faith? This question is as important today as it was during the Prostestant Reformation. In this message, R.C. Sproul examines the three elements of saving faith that were articulated by the Reformers, pointing us to the benefits that we enjoy as sinners who have been reconciled to God.

I have affection for the Lord Christ but still continue to struggle with sin. And i sometimes justify my sins. Or downgrade them. I pray i have the strength to resist everytime temptation comes at my door

Do you truly know Christ, truly, not saying you don’t but truly, would you surrender it all to follow Him even if it caused your death, do you know the wrath He faced on the cross, do you know the punishment He bore for the wrath of God was pleased to crunched Christ!!!! Our roghtous and might wrath, and judgment that we deserve for we sinned against a holy God! Christ Jesus took and bore it all He is our true substitutionary attonment, for He who knew no sin became sin, God judged Him as if He was a sinner and it was a righteous Judgement, Holy, oh what a great transaction! He bought us so that we may be free in Him, in Christ, slaves from sin, now in Christ rightousness, well live for Him as we are In Him. Read the book of Romans for me brother it truly is a great book, and do some herminutics on it. Repent brother repent turn away from your sins, reject it!! Daily . DAILY!

You are not praying enough, you are not studying your bible enough, you don't have fellowship with true believers enough, that's why sin has power on you

Love watching these videos to learn more of the word and the lord but my only problem with the Christian faith is that it repeatedly says to feel shame and guilt for how we are. Self hate doesn’t build. Self love is what we should have even tho we’re not perfect.

As a member of a 12 step group, I can agree that by recognizing my sin or "defects of character" and weakness, that I came to want to know God. Now, whether it is necessary to have faith in Jesus, that is where the church comes in.

Well the Bible absolutely says faith in Christ is absolutely necessary and we will be damned without it for all eternity.

Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness Later on he took his son to mount Moriah to fulfill the command of God demonstrating his faith by works

@@djaconetta you are correct Salvation is by faith alone not works This is the basis for Paul’s argument in Romans 4:9-12. Abraham was justified by his faith 14 years before he was circumcised

@@jessyjonas4988 James said in chapter that Faith without any works is a dead faith. The works James is talking about is the doing the work of God which is to believe in the work of Jesus, obedience to Jesus, and gaining the fruits of the spirit. Matthew 7:21 states that those who claim to have come to the knowledge of Christ but yet keeps living the ways of sin will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Believing in Christ means you accept as true the fact that He died as your personal substitute. In the moment you believe, God gives you eternal life and guarantees your salvation. Instantly, you are brought into an unbreakable relationship with God forever. Your attitude toward Jesus Christ determines your eternal future. You can either believe in Christ for eternal life or reject Him for eternal condemnation. He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey [believe] the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. (John 3:36)

Saving faith is found in Acts 16:31. In this passage it states in the original Greek Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and at that very moment you are saved forever..Notice salvation and justification happen at the moment of time at the very beginning when you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ...You are also placed in union with Christ and sealed by the Holy Spirit. This is a guarantee and can never be taken away by anything you do or don't do. Therefore your post-salvation works or lack thereof have no effect on your salvation. because you are saved first ...RC is a great Theology teacher but is wrong on this point. Modern preachers and teachers never go into the timing of all this. They never seem to see this point. They interpret James as faith without works as no faith...That is not what is says..it says dead faith...That is the initial faith in Christ that doesn't seem to produce any works in life...Also how much work do you need to revive your dead faith? That is never answered either. A Christian that is in union with Christ should produce good works, and there is a lot of consequences for not doing so, but a loss of salvation is not one of them.

Everything you said is true. But what RC is talking about is from the book of James. It’s possible for us to have affirmation of our salvation and it comes through the fruits that we produce through the love that comes from our legitimate faith. Otherwise someone could just say they believe and have no love in their heart for Christ whatsoever

@Ben Jones Thanks for the responce.. Which came first is not a mute point it is the crux of the issue. One must be saved to produce or not, good works . The legalist say that if you don't produce good your not saved and your faith is dead..You know the very faith that saved you First. When we believe in Jesus Christ , 40 things happen instantainiousley. All of these things like the filling and sealing of the H.S. etenal security, forgivness of sin, ect. (I have the list if you want it) are given as a FREE gift. No strings attached. If one excepts this gift by faith and faith alone in the finished work of Christ on the cross, then whether he or she produces good works ,has no barring on their salvation. Why because they were Saved First.

@@Dispensational_David The question is if a person just says that they believe and except the free gift of eternal salvation Acts:16:31 and truly believes it in his mind, but fails to learn the Mind of Christ, thru the intake of bible doctrine, thereby never developing love for Christ ,because in order to love him you must get to know him thru studing his word, Is he still saved . The answere is absolutley yes...If he says yes to Christ and doesn't mean it , then no.

💯 I would add that the 100% certainty and finality of salvation is also presented as an IF you continue believing. Saving Faith IS trusting in Jesus Christ... for salvation through His Blood,, which satisfies the wrath of God for all who ARE believing.

You say it's a moot point, which came first. Tell that to the legalistic preachers and believers, that believe if you don't produce fruit you aren't really saved first.@AVB2

This presentation is intellectual semantics ... What can wash away my sins? NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS. Saving Faith is one thing and one thing only - the continuous cry of sinners who know they need a Savior pleading Nothing But The Blood of JESUS. You don't need to know anything but that youre a sinner under the wrath of God and this person named Jesus came and died to satisfy the wrath of God against everyone who is trusting in Him and His shed blood. From this saving faith right doctrine and sanctification will naturally flow...

It's not too late for you to abandon God, the church and everything associated with it. For years you have been dictated to and told that you are unworthy. How dare any teachings demean you and tell you that you're not worthy or good enough to be in the presence of a God who obviously doesn't care about your fate. You have wasted a good deal of your life on this useless entity and it hasn't done you one skerrick of good. It's time for you to shake off all the hangups associated with Christianity and become a real person, begin to appreciate and enjoy what the world offers you, fun, adventure and hedonism. No more feelings of guilt, paranoia and unworthiness. Banish Jesus, God and all the luggage they have loaded you up with since childhood, explore your potential which has been suppressed for so long, open up your mind without any religious restrictions. Tell Jesus to mount his camel and take a hike. You'll be amazed at how good it makes you feel. Religion is for people who are afraid of life and don't have any faith in themselves. Blessed be.

It's not too late for you to receive saving faith. Admit your a sinner on your way to hell in desperate need of a Saviour. Cry out to Jesus my friend that He might save you. Without saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ you will be damned to hell for eternity.

If you think any, or all of your problems can be solved by Jesus then think again. You have to realize that Jesus is the cause of all your problems not the solution, if you don’t think about him then he’ll go away, it’s time to dump Jesus and all his silly rules for your life, you’ll begin to feel free and so much better.
