Thank you for the video, I am new on 12 gauge reloading and all the videos out there are a little complicated but yours is simple and simplicity works for me , much respect sir.

I would dare to guess the pressure will be significantly increased due to drag caused by tape showing fitting in barrel means nothing being load expands after firing? Before showing this had you sent load to prescion reloaders to have pressure tested? I'm betting not.

BP MG 42 wad will work well for this.....just dont slit it......cheers!
@unhippy13 жыл бұрын
Lol thats half a step back from what we used to do.....friend of mine used to put bb shot in a trap wad (short cup and a longer cushion 'tail' section) then then stickytape around the cup petals and over the front.....flew like a european type solid slug so quite accurate but was like shooting an animal with the barrel touching it when you shot something.......lol was limited to an open choke with them.....even a 1/4 choke would rip the tape apart
@maxxbear50143 жыл бұрын
It works but I got some new wads with no slits in them. Cut them like the factory wad now

I use the same load but with 21.5 grains of Green Dot... same velocity as yours. I use the same load (19 grains red dot) for a target/field load with 1-1/8 oz #7.5
@electromech73353 жыл бұрын
I like the green dot too. I also use it for 9mm and 45 acp. I found old recipes online. Not much cleanup after range time.

Great tip! Poor man's flight control wad. I'd love to see results from a ballistic gel test. Especially with #4 buckshot. Within HD distances.

Thanks for the video. Hadn't thought about teflon tape. Good idea, it's tough for its minimal thickness.I wonder if adding buffer would tighten groups up even further?
@maxxbear5014 Жыл бұрын
I don’t know if adding buffer would do anything. It’s hard enough getting Teflon tape wrapped around the shot.

What would you recommend for consistent 6" patterns at 50 yards?
@maxxbear50145 ай бұрын
If you want a pattern of 6 inches at 50 yards, then you should just use a slug. I don’t know if you can get 6 inches with buckshot at 50 yards. Thanks for the question.

Good idea..... Virgin tape..
@tarzansbigknife72173 жыл бұрын
you can buy wads that are uncut rather than taping....however....the flight control wads have small fins that open when leaving the barrel to slow the wad down keeping the shot column together longer...your method basically makes your buckshot into a slug......another bad KZfaq experimenter with too much time on his hands.....
