Did anyone think you'd be here 40 years later on KZfaq watching reruns of this and the other great shows of the era?

Nope! But I sure am enjoying them. I was just a baby when this aired. But I loved just about everything MTM Enterprises has ever made. ❤

Capital punishment is an emotional and complex issue. Lou Grant was a great show!

Airdate 9NOV81. Guest star is Terri Nunn, who auditioned for Princess Leia. Decided not to star in Dallas in order to lead the band Berlin instead. I saw this when it first aired. One of the more memorable episodes.

To whom it may concern, the killer is played by the lead singer of the band Berlin! Even casual music fans will remember "Take My Breath Away".

Yep , Terri Nunn

Really enjoyed this episode--the fantastic aspect of Lou Grant is that it does a great job of being objective and not trying to be a one sided propaganda machine--kinda like how a journal or a newspaper, in which it is based on, should be. We get to see the atrocity of the act that the girl committed, but the show--via Rossi's stupendous performance-showed her humanity as well and why she chose certain things, as well as wanting to die. It gives us a great insight into the twisted and disturbed world of criminals as well.

Tank, related story: I think I recognize part of the Trib's offices as the set they later used for Hill Street Station.

Robert Walden was excellent in this; we got to see a rare glimpse of Joe Rossi, human being. Thanks.

+Cynthia Lyman As a story, We've al had trials in life, but We don't go out and kill 4 people that didn't do anything to Us. We pick up what's left and move ahead.

I wish there was a Lou Grant section at fanfiction.com because this episode would've been perfect to do a fan follow-up on.

Terri Nunn (Kitty Larson) is a damn good actress. She was outstanding in this role--very natural, very convincing. She certainly deserved an Emmy for this part if she didn't get one.

If Lou was working at the paper when it happened then Animal would have been there too. One of the few instances of a continuity lapse in this show that was way ahead of its time.

I'm sure that the Trib has many photographers on staff. We usually only see The Animal.

Terri Nunn's back, different character tho. Woulda been a better story if she played same character - Unwed mother goes bad.

Really threw me when it was season 5 and Billies at a typewriter. Didn't catch that it was a flashback episode.

'Kitty' is a Classic Sociopath. I know one who makes clothes peg items, like a doll's rocking chair, it's part of the impression they want to make on others, "Look, I make cute things, I'm harmless!" The flattery that she heaps on 'Rossi' is a Sociopathic deposit in the bank - 'I Like You, You've Got To Like Me!" But should you resist them, say No to them, they will go into a Sociopathic Rant which they cannot stop because they have no Fear which would make normal people shut up out of fear of revealing their true motives. And they just LOVE writing letters! The one I know wrote, when her first illegitmate child was born - "Thank you for coming to the Funeral of my little girl who Died of Cancer....." which she had not but did develop Cancer later on. She relished her kids being Ill. During one pregnancy, when we were all bored by her pregnancies, she faked Anorexia as it was News. And more. That 'Rossi' is fooled by her looks - that is such an old cliche! Only Ugly People are Evil?! PS When asked "You Use people, don't you, Norma?" She snapped back "Of Course! That's what they're there for." The Socipath creed.

I vascilate on the death penalty . While I believe life imprisonment to be a greater punishment than the death penalty ( look at how many are ready to die when it comes ) , I have no problem kiling a killer . The problem for me is how often I kill an innocent man .... Thata how you should look at it too ... What is done in your name with your support is your responsibility .... I can think of nothing I have done worse than causing the death of an innocent person and I have .
