Hi friends, happy Thursday!
Welcome to the Dark History podcast. Has anyone ever blamed being late on being a leo? Or talked about how mercury being in retrograde has really just screwed everything up? Have you ever wondered what any of that meant or how we got here? Well today we’re diving way back into the history of astrology and psychics and figuring out how we got from reading the stars to reading our horoscopes.
I appreciate you for coming by, and tune in next week for more dark history.
You can find Dark History podcast on Apple, Spotify, wherever you listen to your podcasts, and every Thursday here on my KZfaq for the visual side of things.

I read my horoscope one Sunday and it said "follow your sign to happiness" I flipped the page and there was a full page ad for a company hiring , the company's logo was a big pig picture of the scales. I am a Libra. I literally printed out my resume and mailed it out that day. 4 days later I got a call for an interview, went and got the job. The first day of orientation I saw a man walk in the room and instantly knew I was going to marry him . We started talking and it it was like we knew each other forever. We have known each other over 20 years and been married for 16.5. ❤

@@annasblogsanimallover There is no white magic and black magic. It's all about one's intention. Magic is just magic, it's the intention behind the magic that makes it more baneful or not. The terms white and black magic has a very racist background that most practitioners today do not associate with and try to educate others so the cycle will stop. I hope this doesn't come off as rude or anything like that, just trying to help clear up any misconceptions spread around by Hollywood and other hate groups!

Years ago, my great aunt was seeking answers for her sons unexpected and tragic death. She sought out a psychic in the area, who ended up being unable to contact her son. Weeks later, she had been searching for his shoes so his little brother could wear them (it was for his graduation I believe). She looked high and low and could not find them! So, one day, she was standing in line at a store. And this lady, a complete stranger standing behind her, said that she could sense her son. The woman said that her son kept pointing at his feet. At first, my great aunt was confused- but then she realized. He was buried in the same shoes that she had been searching for!! Gives me the chills every time.

I lost my son last October suddenly out of the blue. Some very strange things have been happening…ORBS galore I started seeing on my ring cam. I’ve always had a sensitivity to knowing things but it’s increased substantially. I really don’t know what it all means. Im actually feeling very compelled to share so I started a KZfaq channel as I have this happen on a daily basis. They are pretty incredible to see. The problem for Sylvia Browne was that the girl she said was dead, was actually being held with Michelle Knight in that Cleveland house of horrors. I mean while houdini didn't claim to have supernatural powers that can connect grieving people with their deceased loved ones, spiritualist made money of sorrow and pain of losing their friends and family members. When watching illusionist perform everyone in the audience knows that it is an illusion, while clients of mediums truly believed they were talking with someone they knew. @Areyannamonae
@Areyannamonae Жыл бұрын
It’s actually a really quick lesson. It started with the Egyptians. Women wore tattoos for fertility and to honor the Gods. Then Native Americans also, the High Priests and Priestesses. Then when the colonizers came, they used tattoos to brand their slaves like cattle. Then it became a symbol of slavery and pirates. Then Sailors adopted tattoos from the Pirates to commemorate their time overseas. Then eventually when the industrial revolution started average people started getting them and that’s how we got here.

Okay but the difference between Houdini's "tricks" and spiritualism is that Houdini admitted he was performing tricks, not relying on magic. The spiritualists were pseudoscientists, which can be dangerous. Like, imagine someone "contacting" your dead loved one to tell you to split your inheritance, discriminating against someone because they are a Scorpio, or refusing medicine to rely on crystals. Escaping from a cage without showing how you accomplished it is a talent performance, talking to someone's dead loved one is (probably almost always) a lie. Predictions about the economy and politics are based off of data, historical knowledge, and quantifiable trends, but we still acknowledge they aren't always accurate. Forecasts by psychics are based off of feelings, "visions", or gut intuition...which aren't objective or based in reality at all.

Bailey, since you were wondering common illness in Sagittarius, the one I've seen most as an astrologer, is falling from high places. Sagittarius is also susceptible to illnesses concerning the buttocks, hips and thighs. Traditional texts warn of danger through falls from horses, sport related illnesses, burns and injuries caused through the tendency to act rashly with little regard to consequences. Jupiter, the ruler of this sign, is closely associated with the blood; 'heated' blood and fevers are highlighted under this sign, as well as inflammation. :)

Houdini was so upset about mediums because they manipulated people who were grieving... They were swindling people (sometimes even bankrupting them) on the false promise of communicating with lost loved ones, which is super manipulative and cruel. The difference is huge. Houdini was an entertainer. Spiritualism preyed on people's grief and desperation.

So… about the Houdini hate, he wasn’t two faced at all. You said it yourself, Houdini played tricks, he was a magician and illusionist. The reason he went on a manhunt looking to expose psychics and mediums was because they were defrauding the public and targeting grieving families. Houdini had paying customers because they enjoyed the thrill, magic, and showmanship. Mediums had paying customers because vulnerable and distraught people were hopelessly looking for answers to their lost loved ones.

This is funny. I am in the middle of a masters degree in the same major. People used to ask me if I can do their hair and nails when I tell them I study Cosmology. It was depressing. I am skeptic myself about astrology but I do feature readings on my channel for people of a certain sign who want to resonate with that. The astrology community is huge but I for one want to keep it separate from real astronomy. I would consider astrology to fall under the umbrella of spiritualism and not science. But I still like to learn about. I use my psychic abilities to openly discuss how energy can flow as it pertains to a certain situation. Always teachable moments.

The spiritualists he was going after were lying and capitalizing on people’s grief and desperation. It was the harmful lies, not the magic that was the problem. Absolutely correct. I’m an astrologer and tarot card reader. This is an incredibly real science. Most people don’t know how to tap into their intuition which we all have if you take the time to research past the controlled educational system that programs the masses to believe everything that is not true. This reality is much stranger than we are led to believe. Truth is stranger than fiction. There are people who have used these mystery sciences to con people but if you are a true astrologer you can predict anything. JP Morgan even said, “millionaires don’t use astrology, billionaires use it”.

Whilst I do believe astrology is sometimes criticised too harshly, believing everything a person says just because they claim it to be right can have just as many negative affects as it does positive ones. When I was 16, mom was told by a psychic that I would soon be pregnant, and for the next year and a half continued to make me weigh myself and take pregnancy tests to assure herself I was not. She would sometimes tell me I was looking “particularly pregnant” on certain days. This lead to an eating disorder and lots of other fun. I really enjoy your content Bailey and have an impartial stance on astronomy myself, but there have been many tragic events caused by a lack of scepticism towards such things. I think this should have been made into a clearer point

Alex, I read your comment and as a psychic myself I am sorry this happened to you. I'd like to promote that not all psychics are giving messages for the right reasons. If they tell you that they are 100% accurate, then they are scamming you. Real psychics will tell you that energy can change in a split second, very similar to the butterfly effect. So the way the psychic should have worded things is "If your not careful you could become pregnant." Sometimes predictions do occur and sometimes they don't. Each individual person has free will to make decisions that could change the energy that a psychic is reading one day to be completely different the next. All psychics should honestly have a period of study before opening themselves up to patronage and I truly believe understanding physics is a way to understand the flow of energy too. I hope you have healed and sought proper council on your way to recovery for that eating disorder. My blessings are with you.

Maybe by her telling your mom that avoided you actually getting pregnant. Just a thought.

I personally don't feel as though she was really *for* it at all. To me it seemed as tho she treated it the opposite really, like a whole big circus show to gawk at. You should never believe fully what someone is saying, you also should inform yourself how to tell what a hot or cold reading is before getting one, and not allowing yourself to go during a time of emotional distress. However I feel as though throughout the video she ingred the very real practice of witchcraft and the occult and even showed it as this made up idea. Its annoying, especially when she goes above and beyond to never hate on Christianity. She did the same in her Salem witch trials video.
