Hello and welcome to Badger Workshop. My garden tap needed smartening up and protecting so I made a wooden box to cover it.

Love the foam tape idea very impressive. You could even throw some insulation in there for the winter months when you’re unlikely to need the tap. 👍🏻

Nice build, glad to see you painted the rear face of the box,many people forget that area and see the box rot from the back. As it's not holding structural weight, it's ok to drill into mortar joints, though not as secure as drilling into solid brick (away from the edge) as the mortar can crumble & break away

Good tidy job mate. Like others have said put some insulation over the tap body and gland during the frosty weather. Or better still see it theres an isolation valve on the 15mm pipe feeding the tap and turn it off for winter

No one can steal your water now?!? What a mean trick... to be fair, you had to do something before the rats chewed through the insulation and made comfy beds in your cereals cupboard!! Nice job 🎄🦊🎄

I need to make one of these, but at the minute my garden tap is just a bit of speedfit sticking through the wall an isolating valve on the end! Must have been a profession bodger (not to be mistaken with badger) that owned the house before me!

Any outside tap should have an inside valve to close it, if the outside tap does freeze and crack, put your skates on !

@@Badgerworkshop That's cool, hope you got paid something. A word of advice, don't set hinges in so deep, your door on the tap box is 'hinge bound', as was the lid of your gin presentation box.

A few years ago, an old guy went down my street and a few others steeling all of the outside taps with the intention of selling them for scrap. That left quite a soggy mess. He was got caught thankfully.
