Making a leather knife sheath part 1, DIY Cross draw knife sheath template.
Welcome to the first of my making a leather knife sheath series. This video is about how to create a cutting template for cutting out the leather for the sheath.

Watching an Aussie Make a template for HIS! Classic Epic! Paper Leather sketch PART 1. I have a Leather kit we brought down with us from Boston Ma ( USA ). This is my first Craft video on the actual subject. I have a huge bag of scrap Leather to work with. Very excited to see this happen in full creation! Thankyou for the kind words, I will be taking the series through the full making of a sheath from start to finish. The whole idea is to help people do it for themselves, I love to teach and this has given me a new avenue to do that.

Great video and instructions. I've been way over thinking the belt strap on the cross draw sheaths. I will be trying your methods this evening. That is the easiest looking method I've seen. That idea with the washer is cool too. Thank you.

Great videos!!! Learned HEAPS. Just a related question (if u have time to answer): what is the overall WIDTH of your knife scales plus knife steel??

Hey Alan I always have time ti answer. It depends on the design of the knife and also the hand size of the purchaser. Generally 1/8' (3.25mm) steel and 1/4" (6.5mm) on the bolsters is my start point so about 5/8'( 25.25mm) is about where I start at bolster end, that is thinned slightly in the handle shaping stage. The scales slightly under 1/2" (12mm) before shaping
