@@RedroomStudios That's how I felt when he opened up SO much on the week leading up to them parting with Dubas... But really nothing before or after... Just felt like he was taking a lot of heat off himself, by basically saying he had no choice but *not* to resign him... So it's really Dubas's fault because of the last minute changes to the offer... "A gap had risen" yadda yadda... I think it's pretty clear now it's a gap in power, not money, because I'm guessing he knew he was 1st in line for the penguins job, and it was the same title as BS, without the current tenure already attached to it, that came with staying with the leafs... With a young family, it makes total sense to me, as he's likely got a stable job for a decade or so now... If he doesn't screw it all up terribly that is...

Tough situation but Brad should be up to the task if he learned from his mistakes in Calgary. I'm betting that he did. Lots of work to do but he busts his butt and will do his best to improve the team which will hopefully lead to some more post season success for them.

What mistakes? Please dont say Fox or Tkachuk. If either of those are considered mistakes, do your research. Toronto writers are ignorant thinking the Matthew T. bridge deal was a mistake. Matthew always wanted out. He would not have signed long term. HE wanted the bridge deal.

Going from CSEC to MLSE should be pretty smooth for Brad. As a Flames fan in Calgary, I can tell you Brad is a pretty good drafter, his picks were mostly great. He's a good GM, but he was a little handcuffed here in Calgary. I wish Brad and the Leafs (and their fans) all the best.

I get the feeling that the core 4 stays as well as Keefe and BT will shuffle the deck around them, which we know hasn’t worked. I hope Brendan is on a short leash, as in within 2 years (next season or the season after) to get to the Conference Finals and further. Enough of these ‘thin margins’, ‘it’s a process’, ‘winning is hard’ cliches. No offence to BT but we have heard these for 9 years. With that, I still say, welcome aboard Brad and nice to have you here in Toronto! 🤝

The guy did his best to make the most out of a tough situation in regards to Gaudreau and Tkachuk. Huberdeau will bounce back next season I'm guessing, he was not a good match for Sutters system. Hope he can find a good mix for the Leafs. He can only do so much tho, on the players to play the game.

People forget the flames were considered by to be cup favorites only a year ago. He built one of the best D cores in the league in recent years so excited to see what he does there, as it’s been a weakness for the leafs for decades

Announcing the new GM in Toronto while Dubas get announced as president of Hockey Operations in Pittsburgh. let me tell you being a GM ,even in Toronto verses being named President is night an day in th pecking order. well done Kyle.. Let Lou go, who turned around the islanders quickly and made it further than the leafs might I add and let Mark Hunter go, who was the one to draft Marner and has turned the London Knights into a powerhouse in the ohl. He also allowed Dubas to sign Johnny T, when they had kadri and should've used that money for depth pieces to compliment the top 6. Clearly, he hasn't replicated his playing success into the front office.

I love when he says it the team have alot of skills. But when i did play along time ago, i feelt that if your not playing as a team you will never win. I think alot of todays hockey are about the individual skills, but if you can't play as a team i feel that the thing we praise so mutch is useless. Perhaps it's my old thinking, but i feel can i not fight for the player next to me every night then i have nothing to do in a teamsport.

@Ricky Martin cups would be nice. But the Leafs have won many. Proud organization with history leaf fans can relish. Toronto is one of the few sports markets in the world where the fans live their team and follow them regardless. A cup is a bonus but really not necessary at all. Half the teams in the league would fold if there was no salary cap and they weren't winning. A true fan base follows their team regardless how they do in the standings. It's about live of the game not just winning. The Cubs in baseball are another. They go over 100 years and dads still love to take their kids to the ballpark and cheer. To be honest some of my favorite leaf years were when I was in high school and the Leafs were brutal and Wendel had arrived. Loved those years.

I have to admit it was pretty sweet watching Montreal sweep Toronto in 1978 and 1979 in the playoffs to win Stanley Cup 3 and 4 in a row. That 1977 team that went 60-8-12 to me was the greatest NHL team ever assembled. Sorry Bruins fans! LOL

Toronto is the best farm system in the NHL for sending players to teams to win a cup. Aside from that, the rest of the players have this glorified superstars attitidue, mostly in the media and their own eyes perspective but nothing else. They all strut their stuff as Rock Stars being the center of the hockey universe. None has actually won the big won while strutting in Toronto. What's that tell you?

@Jay StyX Completely agree. Especially coach and Brodie is all done. To be honest, I was never a Holl hater. He could be a decent 6th or 7th defenseman. On any team. But this coach was often using him like a top pairing guy. Coach is way out of his league but looks like trekiving isn't going to have any say

MLSE probably told him what to say and what not to say. Interesting...he says its not about the core 4 but about the entire team. No way....Matthews, Marner have to take responsibility given they did not meet contract expectations. These contracts are a big deal bc these guys did not take team friendly contracts in order to be cup contenders. Leafs are a very good regular season team but no way in hell they are cup contenders. A red flag and an example of this is how they always struggle against weaker seeded teams in regular season. That does not happen with cup contending teams. I will not be spending money on this team . I want to see Matthews and Marner TRADED!!

A GM that inherited a 'stacked team' that people CONSTANTLY COMPLAIN ABOUT as being 'not good enough'. Skill isn't the only factor in building a good team and if the Leafs run it back again with the same core unless something drastically changed in them, the results won't be that much different.

Dubas shoulda been fired after the Lafs lost to the habs, Keefe shoulda veen fired years ago vs Bluejackets. Marner is not a 10 million doller player. Mathiews has no care. JT is sucking right now, so did everything Dubas did to protect Holl instead of McMann. Malgin....
