Interessting how different views can be. Chael says there were only very few rules at his house and then goes on to list pretty much all the common rules that can apply to kids in most households. Most young people however would list exatcly the same ones while saying that there were too many rules at their house. Also you really gotta respect how he immediately told his father about skipping school, and by the sounds of it not because of the fear of getting caught or even guilt, but simply because he thought that is the right thing to do. So I guess all that talk about principles that he does really isn't just bs, but something he actually DOES live by. Great man.

What a great story about fighters and their weight, especially when you bring in the name Matt Hume. Way back in 2005 or 2006, my brother Brandon fought his first (and only) MMA fight against Caros Fodor at the fantastic Vision Quest Sport & Fitness owned by "Uncle Brad" Swartz, wrestling partner of my father at OSU. The amateur fight was set to be a 170lb contest, however, a few weeks before the bout my brother was contacted with a suggestion the fight be held at 165lb. Dropping from a rotund 240lb size at 5'8", Brandon figured the extra 5 pounds wouldn't be a big deal since both fighters would be of equal weight either way and he didn't want to make waves with the promoter, Matt Hume. Well, sure enough, fight day came and the true weight class was 170lb as was originally agreed. So my brother cut an extra five pounds based on Hume's word, which we found out later wasn't worth much. Other antics were involved in the lead up to the fight, and at one point "Fast" Eddy Ellis and myself actually had to firmly tell Hume to f*¢k off (hand on shoulder) pre-fight and let us get in a warm-up. It was very close to becoming violent. Just thought I'd share my experience here, as I truly believe the character of Matt Hume was a major roadblock that got in the way of Mighty Mouse becoming a fan favorite... DJ was (and likely still is) a cuck boy that yielded to the power and influence of Hume. Too bad it actually resulted in fans being disinterested in the entire flyweight division. Now that they are gone, the division flourishes... Just my opinion...
