Quite hits home so much for me as I have Autism and have lived with family who thought belittling is the way to get you to change. To this day I automatically remove part of myself when around certain people.

I was lucky that I had a dad who was the exact opposite of this and unlucky that he and my mom got divorced and that my mom married a stepdad who did similar things to me and my siblings that your family did to you. My stepdad never encountered someone who had Autism, and he thought it was a disease that could be cured, so he tried to "cure" me of it. I was traumatized by that, and to this day, I don't react well to being scared, and especially to being yelled at. My anxiety goes through the roof and I feel the urge to run and hide if I'm in a scary situation (my fight instinct ended up getting beaten out of me). I do the same thing you do.

I have loved Tim Minchin for 10 years and I will never cease to be floored by his lyricism, musicianship, creativity, wit, and intelligence. He was the composer and lyricist for this musical, and oh my god what a brilliant mind to adapt Roald Dahl for the stage. Tim Minchin was a significant influence on my critical thinking in my late teens and I will forever be in awe of his work.

naugthy here is not a sexy naughty is a call back to "sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty", it's the idea that the kids don't need to have perfectly good behaviour, because sometimes you need to fight for yourself. and I do think the move is inspired by tiktok because, it's something kids and teens do for fun that tends to be called out and criticized or even look down upon. it's part of them being revolting(as in them being disgusting, the way Trunchbull uses it when she calls them revolting, and revolting as in a revolt against the status quo, them taking ownership of that title).

A few things: no she is not making him eat the cake hahahah! I never even thought of that, but he does it out of sheer will :) In the original movie Matilda has telekenesis as well too! I believe the actress was either 11 or 12 when this was filmed by the way. Also when Hortensia (the red beret girl) is singing the little part before school song starts, she is singing live! That is one of 2 of the songs in the movie that were filmed live! I cant remember the second one. Also, in the broadway version the school kids cast is made up of equal parts children and adults! Its almost a gag of sorts because obviously they look like full fledged adults but they are supposed to be "the big kids" in the school, they just opted to use teenagers to represent that in the movie! Hortensia is in the stage version with a much less prominent role, but she is the girl in the live version that you kept saying her face is crazy and she looks super mad (because shes an older kid and FED UP with ms trunchbull at that point) They just expanded on her character in the movie :) Hope this helped clear some things up!!

Also! The actress playing Matilda - Alisha Weir - is Irish :) She had an accent coach for the film to help her master the british accent. Also about the song Quiet - I agree with you that the movie does SUCH a better job of getting the lyrics across. With a song that has soooo many lyrics and inflection changes etc its much easier to convey that emotion when you have a bunch of takes and editing added. In the broadway show the scene is such matilda raised on a platform with a solo spotlight on her as she sings. And mind you, the girls cast in the part on broadway were almost always between the ages of 8 and 10, so to have that young of an actress singing that big song and being able to carry her voice throughout the theater is something that definitely doesnt hit as hard as this!

I'd love to see you react to "Tuck Everlasting: The Musical". The songs in it are fun. They really pay attention to subtlties and details in them. "Tuck Everlasting: The Musical" is based on the children's novel: "Tuck Everlasting". To really understand it, reading the book helps add to the experience. But if you already know the story, they drop little easter eggs in the musical and the songs to give a nod toward the book. To summarize what it's about, a little girl named Winnie Foster discovers a family that drank from a specific spring in her family's wood. Since they drank from the spring, that family is gonna live for eternity. Once Winnie learns the secret, she must choose to either join them living for eternity or to live in the complete circle of life.

Thx for your sincerity in your reactions. I'm sorry you had to disassociate yourself from your painful upbringing experiences. I hope that now you can bring a practice of meditation into your daily routine... so that you can feel peace, stillness and silence in the mind in a healthy, progressive way whilst you are evolving towards more personal happiness and peace.

Songs from "Tuck Everlasting: The Musical" I'd recommend are: "The Wheel" (one of my favourites) and "Partner in Crime". "Top of the World" is fun and cute. "Everlasting" is great. That one's like a moral delimma where Winnie asks herself, "Does the story end or never end?" Finally, there is "Time" and "Live Like This".

When Ms. Truntchbull turned on the PA her voice sounded a bit more pretentious 😂 showing her patriotism for England… then back to intense… love Emma, she also sang in the live action beauty and the beast as Mrs. Pots

I know it's probably already been addressed since I'm late to the party, but in the stage production, the upper class students, like Hortensia, were played by adults (Hortensia is "beret girl").

in the Bruce song, they don't switch from the English accent to an American accent. They are saying "he can't, he can", 'not can't' twice in two different accents :)

Not here to come after you! But the reason her eyes flick up like that in Revolting Children during the Tik Tok move was because she was looking at the other kid jumping off something next to her. Just wanted to let you know!

I enjoy the movie, but if they made a good quality recording of the play (like they did with Into the Woods or Sweeney Todd) I might never watch the movie. There should be a law that every successful play needs to have a high quality filmed performance made of it.

Hide and Seek.....Eddy Murphy movie "Haunted Mansion"....this Video is Super Cool.... Elizabeth (from The Charismatic Voice) is one of the background voices.... I was wondering why she didn't "critique it. And saw in the notes that she was in it. Just her "voice " but not her person. Lauren Paley hits a Super High Long note that's Opera Worthy..... she's the Dead Bride. You won't see "Geoffrey" at first, but after elimination of the "characters" you will be Shocked at his Costume! You Got to check it out! 😁🙏👍
