Hi! To answer your cochlear implant question (my fiancé has one and I am a speech therapist), it’s kind of like a mini computer that has a mic. It processes sound, turns it into electrical signals, and then sends it to your brain (specifically your auditory nerve). Basically you can “hear” with it, however it is not perfect and typically requires speech therapy and a ton of audiology appointments. My fiancé still has to lip read a lot especially with newer people and it can be hard to distinguish between lots of sounds (I.e. my fiancé prefers more acoustic music than genres with a ton of auto tune/lots of instruments). Once the cochlear implant is off the person cannot hear. Hope I didn’t explain too much, but I really could talk about Cochlear Implants all day! ☺️

And yes a Cochlear Implant (C.I.) does in fact allow you to hear some things. It's different for everyone and I have no knowledge as to Abigail's specific medical situation. But you can reasonably assume, since she says she was born completely deaf (as was her sister), that her inner ear does work to some extent and her outer ear (eardrum etc) does not work. A cochlear implant would allow someone in that scenario to utilize their inner ear hearing to experience some sound but we cannot know to what level. I'd explain more but I'm sure no one is interested in the jargon-y science.

I’m not a fan of Matt (yet?) and idk the details of the nonprofit but I grew up homeless and would have LOVED to have those experiences. Any sense of normalcy is important when you have nothing and live in shame because all your friends go out and do things while you’re struggling to find your next meal. I think it’s great and wish there were more places kids and teens could just do normal things that can help them look forward to building a better life.

I think it's interesting that the Broads said they think it's because he wants to be Matts friend, and on Game of Roses they mention how it's because CH is intimidated by Matt. They know each other and golf together, but CH has to say "you're tall!" when they first are on screen together, then when they sit down to talk about being the first black bachelor CH aggressively grabs Matt's knee, and then when they go outside he shakes him! It could be seen as fun, but also when GOR put it all together like that it definitely seems like CH wants to feel like he has more power over Matt.

If it was a fully black man, he would feel pressure to pick a black girl and that's not cool. I'm black but my family has many interracial relationships and it's great because we get a better understanding of people in general

Okay so during quarantine I watched the entire bachelor Australia franchise and they bring new people in later on almost every season! They refer to them as the intruders
