Welcome to my Mega Huge Grocery Haul for my family of 12. This shop cost $1,000 to feed 12 people for two weeks (including all household, toiletry and baby items). Over the Summer (Southern hemisphere) break, I did not do any huge shop, we just got what we needed every couple of days. It was a nice break from the meal planning, list-making and mammoth online grocery shopping sprees, but we got to the point where the cupboards were bare (we even dwindled down the longer-term food storage a little). So it was time to stock up, and that I did! $1,000 later, our fridges and cupboards were bursting with the promise of some delicious home cooking. This is a two-week shop, though a few things will last longer, and we will have to go back to get some fresh milk and bananas at some point around the halfway mark.
My two0week meal plan is as follows:
Tandoori drumsticks with salad and garlic bread
Lasagne with salad and garlic bread
Lamb and vegetable stew on rice
Chicken and vegetable stew on rice
Lamb chops, potato, corn on cob, and peas
Duck stew
Chicken and vegetable stir-fry on rice
Egg, bacon and cheese bake with salad
Pies, potato gems and peas
Vegetarian pasta X 2 nights (big double batch)
Potato and corn soup with toasted cheese sandwiches
Join me as I feed my tribe of 12 nutritious and delicious meals, share budgeting tips and large family logistics!
