Welcome to this massive 2-week grocery haul for my family of 12! This shop also includes items for my mothers birthday party that I hosted a couple of days later. Recently, we increased our shopping budget to reflect the reality of grocery price hikes and growing children. I've found that the increase has made shopping a lot easier, and the food is lasting very well for the two weeks without having to purchase much else (we still go back for fresh milk and bananas, for sure!). My grocery budget works out to around $500 per week, including all food, household and toiletry (inc. baby) supplies. For Melbourne, Australia, I think I'm doing pretty good at keeping to such a budget while feeding 12 people hearty and nutritious homecooked (for the most part) meals. We do have take-away once every week or two - it's a break for me (and, frankly, something I enjoy just as much as the kids!).
The total for this grocery haul was $1,077, including extra items for my mothers birthday (other family members contributed food to the party as well). I also purchased some drink to contribute to the party, for an additional $15 (not shown in the video).
My meal plan for the 2 weeks is:
Ricotta and Spinach Agnolotti with homemade tomato sauce
Spaghetti Bolognese X 2 nights
Lamb and vegetable stew on rice
Chicken and vegetable stew/soup with bread
Chicken and vegetable stir-fry on rice
BBQ pulled pork with sides (fried rice, baked red onion, peas)
Fish with salad
Egg, bacon and vegetable bake with salad/veg side
Meat pies, potato gems and peas
Chicken, capsicum, onion and corn burritos with lettuce and avocado
Birthday party food
Join me as I feed my tribe of 12 nutritious and delicious meals, share budgeting tips and large family logistics!
