Testing my daily on track
+ : very good daily car, no issue with brakes or gearbox
- : a bit short in power, tires not designed for track, ESC/traction control completly unadapted to track use (huge lag on
acceleration, Sport mode useless, very intruisive traction control)
conclusion: great to get to track, boring on track
For comparaison, same driver, same track, but different car:
• Megane 3 RS - Spa Fran...
• Lotus Elise S - Spa Fr...

The new RS will be amazing. Can't wait to see it wipe the floor with all the other hatchbacks like the Megane 3 did, and nobody will dethrone it for 5-6 years again.

Stop this joke of comparison. The current Ford Focus RS has abandoned the fight against the Megane RS, a fight it has always lost despite sometimes 50-60 hp more than the Megane RS... It is in 4W now and not in FWD like the Megane RS and the future Megane 4 RS. It's against the Subaru or other Audi 4W that it must be compared now.

You do know that the current, 8 year old, Megane RS is still 15 seconds per lap faster than new Focus RS on Nurburgring? Despite being FWD and having 70hp less?

Au niveau de l'équilibre c'est plutôt sous vireur ou on arrive à faire pivoter un peu l'arrière en entrant sur les freins ? Pour le moteur on a l'impression qu'elle galère à se relancer en sortie, sur route à 4 dedans ça donne quoi pour doubler?

elle à le cancer la sienne on dirait. pour avoir rouler avec pas sur piste mais sur route, j'ai jamais eu ce genre de lag. mais même sur piste sans pouvoir déco l'esp elle à un bon potentiel. tu fais une remap des bons gommards et à la rigueur des amortos moins soft et tu peux largement découpé des c4rs et tenir des m3rs (pas prépa). après à voir avec les gars qui te font une reprog si il y à pas moyen d'inclure une désactivation de l'esp avec les modes.. tout est faisable ajd avec l'électronique.

Il ne roule pas en mode RS mais en confort ou neutral. En mode RS et levier sur manuel avec les palettes, il relancerait bien mieux. Bizarre qu’il utilise ce mode qui n.est pas adapté dans ces condition.

Une technique pour enlevez l’esp ? C’est horrible je ne peux pas l’enlever sur la mienne

Pas à ma connaissance. J'ai regardé une solution par diagnostic mais rien de propre (pour avoir ayc et asr only disabled) possible, avec risque sur la ref et l'abs.

Would you recommend this car for someone who would use it as daily driver and going once or twice a year to a track? I'm really considering getting this car, the only thing that's bothering me is that it seems over assisted and you can't turn traction control off ( other people also mentioned that they felt like the traction control was holding the car back)

Even you are a trackday beginner, you will get quickly bored by this car on track, so i do not recommand it for that. This car is great for everyday use, and good on open road, but is a GT from Renault sport just by its presentation

maybe get a engine and gearbox mapped, better tires and try again?

not sure. Unless i find a proper way to disconnect traction control, spending money in tires or engine is a waste

This is my daily car, I already have something far more spicy for track. this trackday was just for fun with some friends. I had several RS in the past, good compromise for track/everyday, but now it is over

You don't do that to a car under warranty. The GT isn't a track car anyway. Just a sporty daily driver :) That said i'm very happy i got mine, no regrets!
