Interesting premise, but an entire game built around constant time limits would annoy the crap out of me. still, I love the concept regardless.

I like seeing these otherwise less noticed games seeing the light. Needed now that steam is a digital flea market.

Jim, i just wanted to thank you for showing us all the interesting games good and bad, to help the gems shine in the cesspool that is the indie, so that we ourselves can experience something we may have never seen, your a true ster, thank god for you!

Hm seems like a bit of a balancing act, I could see that mechanic getting extremely frustrating if handled less than ideally later. Worth a look probably.

I've purchased it yesterday, almost as soon as it was available, then I beated it in less than two hours. HOWEVER, the game has a New Game + mode which increases the difficulty A LOT, from changing some critical elements of the world map to... well, something *else* I don't want to spoil. So it's nice to see there's more game after the game is finished.

I'm digging the music for that initial overworld area.

Devolver Digital - In addition to having one of the, if not the, best awards show presentations, I really like the games they publish - even when I don't exactly like them.

Watering cans are very useful in all situations.

Devolver Digital has such a good eye for up and coming indie studios. A concise, well executed vision is all I ask for, and they rarely fail to deliver.

I think a neat little feature to make this game better would be to leave corpses of your past lives on the screen. Trying to squeeze as much as possible in the time limit is giving me flashbacks to Majoras Mask. There's nothing more satisfying than really hitting your stride on a run and nailing 3 or 4 challenges in a single run.

It's worth mentioning also that this game is also available on itch and GoG if you're like me and prefer not to have to boot up steam to play a game, or want to keep an installer around in case of a broken update.

This game gave me stress flashbacks to Majora's Mask, and that game gave you 3 (in game) days to play with (whose progress could be ocarina-manipulated).

I am reminded of the film with Tom Cruise Live, Die, Repeat Edge of Tomorrow.

It's a cool take on a "rogue-lite" formula. Progression after each run.

I've bought or added to my wishlist pretty much most of the games you've recommended, I wouldn't have found them on Steam otherwise. Squirm and Squidlit are quite lovely

@Jim Sterling I don't know if you take game recommendations from youtube comments, but there is a strategy game called Comet Crash 2 on PS4 that's essentially a well polished tower defense RTS. Probably the most polished game in the sub-genre. There is a sizable solo campaign that, personally, gives me similar satisfaction to figuring out puzzles in Portal that do a much better job of showcasing towers and units and their uses than the original game on PS3. Local coop/pvp is good fun, but I still haven't met a soul to really test the online modes. Even if you don't like it, it would at least bring some competition my way and for others that enjoy the game.

What a fucking great idea. I would totally dig this on the Switch, not so sure on other platforms. Maybe I'll try it on PS4.

Watched a streamer play this, kept getting distracted and kept forgetting things, beat it in under two hours. But it has a new game plus mode.

Is there gonna be a Super Mega Neo Climax Ultimate Boy edition?

How many hours would it take to truly complete the game though? The concept is extraordinarily interesting, and strangely enough, it actually is very reminiscent of Zelda II, since all you do in that game is die, and develop your skills, level up, and acquire items to make the trek back to your next temple as smoothly as possible.

seems interesting but i dont know if its something i want to spend money on, i mean like you said if you like it you might replay it but i find with most puzzle games once you know the answer you only replay it once or twice to see how fast you can do it knowing the proper way

The timing aspect is also reminiscent of Harvest Moon/Stardew day/night cycle. Kinda. Maybe.

It's a shame about how cellphone games turned out... Stigma and all that. I was there with you in spirit when you were optimistic for phones becoming a great platform... I say this because, while I'm def going to buy this anyway, I'd pay a little extra to have this on my phone because it'd be PERFECT for my 15 min breaks at work.

Ello Jim, I don't have a Twitter account so I'm gonna bug you here. Ever heard of "Crate Creatures"? They're basically U.S. bootleg Boglins - they even come in a barred crate - and their commercial jingle is clearly just a Ghostbusters cover. Just wondering what you thought of that.
