I actually felt like she was the opposite of a classic Bond girl. To me, Bond girls have always been romantic interests who get captured by the main villain and serve no other purpose (which is why I'm not a huge fan of the Bond films in general). In this film, Ferguson's character is a friend who, in many ways, is on the same level as Ethan Hunt. And I'm glad it didn't end with the two of them sharing a cheesy romantic kiss.

Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation is fucking amazing. It's probably another best Mission: Impossible movie I had ever seen and one of the freshest summer blockbuster movie in years. I'm glad that Tom Cruise sticks his character very professional and he's doing it perfect to become an action hero that makes him believable. I love that scene where Hunt holds the door while plane is flying up (man, that was real right there), Hunt drops down the deep hole of liquid water (that's was crazy right there), and my favorite is the chase scene where Hunt and Pegg hunts down the motorcycles with great humor, heart pumping moments, and it never stops that you feel it's a like great chase scene of all time (They did perfectly and it was so fun). I love characters in the movie including Simon Pegg (for me, he's fucking awesome with his dramatic & funniest scenes in it), Ving Rhames, Jeremy Renner, and newcomer Rebecca Ferguson were amazing (she looks good, but super sexy for her femme fatale style). The story works well once again and much like Ghost Protocol, it actually makes it good with the dialogue and more mission facts that it's even more like Mission: Impossible movie. Although the villain worked decent and he's not too bland, but I wish he have more villain's back story and you were right that villains need motivation and reactions of they're planning to do. The fifth movie of Mission: Impossible is by far the best movie I ever seen and I'm glad that taken my mother to see it and we both love to see a great summer action movie for awhile. I love it. Thumbs Way Up. "MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME"

The story and pace of script was grade A, Rebecca Ferguson got my attention and in all the best ways -- smart, sexy, fully capable -- and I'm so glad they kept her as a permanent character. It's just a solid rock of an action movie; one of the rare ones that make you walk out of the theater with your eyes wide open and your expectations surpassed.

Warning Spoilers: Opera scene, chase scene, and underwater scene all absolutely spectacular. I'd say this movie would rival Mad Max for best action movie of the year so far if it wasn't for the merely above average third act. I didn't mind the cliche ticking time bomb, double bluff, obligatory disguise elements, but the final fight scenes versus henchmen and main villain were just mediocre. I wanted more than a foot chase through dark alleys and a knife fight, like perhaps the foot chase going onto teetering rooftops or evolve into a wild boat chase. Learning that the movie was pushed forward might explain why the last 40 minutes departed from the more polished production aesthetic of stunts and camera craft in favor of script driven intrigue and dialogue. 9/10

Are you going to review Vacation? IGN gave it an 8/10 and Rogue Nation a 7/10. But then again, these are the same guys who gave Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance a glowing review and said that Spider-Man (2002) is the 10th best film of the 2000s decade.

Chris, thanks for the interesting review. Is there any chance that you could include in future reviews whether you saw the movie in 3D/IMAX/etc.? I feel pretty much as you do that most 3D movies aren't really all that great in 3D and that 2D is a perfectly good way to see them. However, I noticed your Ant-Man review singled out the 3D, and because of that I saw it in 3D and loved it. Just a thought to help us spend our movie dollars wisely. Keep up the great work!
