"Mom, can you make JUST chocolate chip cookies??" {Chronicles of feeding a large family}

‪@Brifromscratch‬ Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 1/2 sticks butter
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp molasses
1 egg
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 3/4 c flour
1 cup chocolate chips (she says 1.5 but i think 1 is perfect)
Cream butter, sugar and molasses. Add egg, salt, vanilla and baking soda. Add flour and mix until comes together. Add in chocolate chips.
Bake 10-12 min @ 350F. Makes a couple dozen cookies. Works great with Bobs 1:1 flour or Soft White Wheat. I make a triple batch when I make this...

I know it will be peach season before you know it. I have a southern (Georgia) pie recipe. Lazy Man Pie (OLD SCHOOL RECIPE) 2 cups fruit or pie filling (just do not add sugar if using Pie Filling) 1 cul self rising flour 1 cup milk 1 cuo sugar 1 stick butter or margarine 1 teaspoon almond extract if using peaches otherwise what ever extract suit the fruit. If using fresh fruit, let sit with sugar until sugar melts or heat it gently up to dissolve. Mic flour, milk and sugar, mix well, add fruit. Pour into baking dish ! and slice butter on top of mixture. Bake at 350* until golden brown. Time depends if making 1 batch or 2 or 3. For your family I would at least triple. Personally I do not think apples work well with thus recipe. It has a cake like texture and you want to make sure it is moist enough. Raspberries. Blackberries, and Blueberries work wonderful in this. I hope you e joy the recipe. It works great with canned or fresh fruit. I hope I write it out where you could understand it. I have never written the recipe out before. I enjoy you you tube videos greatly.

Omgoodness,what can I say….I just love you. You are too funny and just….Kate. I like that a lot. Lick the beaters and all. I have the same pink broken handle one cup measuring cup, I also just found the exact white enamel bucket with,lid that sits on your counter. We just bought 70 acres and was so excited when I found the white bucket and lid. Then I see you have one too, anyways love your channel, 🇨🇦🌷

Do you switch out your roosters and how often? Is inbreeding a concern with chickens?

We try to add in some new blood every year, last year was a couple barred rock roosters from a friend who had hatched from her flock. Year before was buff orpingtons. We butcher roosters after 2 breeding seasons.

We have one on our uncovered deck and we toss the waterproof cover over it but I still have to give it a deep clean every spring. If I had the option I would definitely keep it under cover.
